Our University is a member of the RRBM – Responsible Research for Business and Management

25.02.2021

Social usefulness, credibility and reliable assessment of scientific research in the area of business and management are the basic values guiding the Responsible Research for Business and Management (RRBM), a virtual organization and community of scientists from all over the world. Kozminski University has also become a member of the RRBM, which is committed to the connection between science and practice, responsible and ethical business, and above all, the contribution of universities and researchers to improving business and social life in Poland and worldwide.

The RRBM (Responsible Research in Business and Management) community was established in 2014 as a group of 24 researchers from different countries who cared about changing the research and business education ecosystem towards sustainable and responsible development. The aim of RRBM is to inspire, encourage and support any study and research in business and management that is credible, useful and understandable, including outside the walls of universities, and not limited to seminar discussions and exchange of opinions in elite periodicals.

According to the initiators of the RRBM, the task of business schools and researchers around the world is – ultimately – to solve problems that are important to economies and to society. For business can be a real agent in changing the world for the better if it has knowledge and recommendations based on responsible research. This requires a change in the approach to science and management education, which are sometimes blamed for being detached from reality and proposing strategies inadequate to meet the challenges of today. A comprehensive program for science and business education was included in the document "Vision 2030", which shows that business schools should become an important and valued participant in activities for the desired social changes.

As stated by Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, Rector of Kozminski University:

The University and its employees fully share the rules and recommendations for business and management research indicated in "Vision 2030". At KU we have long been guided by the seven principles of the RRBM:

  1. Service to society
  2. Valuing basic and applied research
  3. Consideration of pluralism and interdisciplinary collaboration
  4. Thoughtful methodology
  5. Stakeholder engagement
  6. Taking stakeholder expectations into account during the research
  7. Wide dissemination of the achieved results

Kozminski University is the first Polish university to join the RRBM community, which includes a growing number of leading business schools, business education organizations and associations, as well as prominent management and business researchers.

These include, among others, the AACSB, EFMD, Aspen's Institute of Business and Society Program, GRLI, as well as scholars from Cornell University, UCLA, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, Rice University, Imperial College, University of Strathclyde, University of St. Gallen, Aalto University, Lund University, Singapore Management University, University of Hong Kong, and Fudan University.
