Migracje wielokrotne: Podejście ilościowe
MultiData to projekt badawczy, który ma na celu bardziej precyzyjny opis migracji międzynarodowych, a w szczególności migracji wielokrotnych. Nie każda migracja jest podejmowana raz i na zawsze. Migranci często migrują kilkukrotnie, na różnych etapach swojego życia. Kiedy migrują oni po raz kolejny, mogą wrócić do tego samego miejsca lub wybrać inne miejsce docelowe. Migrantów, którzy migrują więcej niż raz i do więcej niż jednego kraju docelowego, nazywamy migrantami wielokrotnymi. Dotychczasowe badania nad migracjami dokumentowały głównie indywidualne historie i historie rodzin migrantów wielokrotnych, które dają nam bardziej dogłębne zrozumienie tego zjawiska, ale nie pozwalają uzyskać bardziej ogólnego obrazu. Dlatego celem projektu MultiData jest zebranie danych na temat migracji wielokrotnych przy zastosowaniu podejścia ilościowego. Do śledzenia migracji wielokrotnych zostaną wykorzystane dwa rodzaje danych ilościowych. Po pierwsze, istniejące badania sondażowe pozwolą na opis skali migracji wielokrotnych i ich zasięgu geograficznego. Dane z sondaży społecznych pozwolą również na zbadanie, w jakim stopniu migranci wielokrotni różnią się od innych migrantów, to znaczy czy migranci wielokrotni posiadają więcej, czy mniej zasobów niż inni migranci? Co więcej, podczas gdy tradycyjne źródła danych, takie jak rejestry i sondaże, pozwalają zrozumieć niektóre aspekty migracji wielokrotnych, pojawiają się nowe dane, które posiadają potencjał dla lepszego zrozumienia tego, w jaki sposób migranci wielokrotni przemieszczają się pomiędzy różnymi miejscami w czasie. Projekt wykorzysta duże dane dotyczące pracowników naukowych i piłkarzy w celu zobrazowania trajektorii międzynarodowych, w tym migracyjnych powrotów i osiedleń. Wykorzystanie różnych rodzajów danych nie pozostaje bez wyzwań i dlatego ważnym celem MultiData, obok opisu migracji wielokrotnych, będzie ocena różnych źródeł danych i tego, w jakim stopniu te dane mogą pomóc zrozumieć migracje wielokrotne.
Projekt MultiData będzie realizowany we współpracy z naukowcami z Austrii i Francji. Rezultaty projektu zostaną opisane w szeregu publikacji dotyczących migracji wielokrotnych oraz badania migracji za pomocą metod ilościowych. Zespół projektowy przedstawi też wyniki projektu na konferencjach międzynarodowych. MultiData, oprócz publikacji naukowych, dostarczy materiałów dla publicznych debat o migracji, prowadząc do bardziej zróżnicowanego i realistycznego zrozumienia migracji.

Requirements
Mandatory requirements (Verified on the basis of information provided in the CV, in the submitted documents)
The candidate for the scholarship should meet the conditions set out in Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships for NCN-funded research projects, Annex to Resolution No. 25/2019 of the NCN Council (Hereinafter referred to as “Regulations”)
Additional requirements (Verified on the basis of information provided in the CV, and during the interview)
- Status of a Master or PhD student in the field of social sciences or information technology or interdisciplinary studies or big data (preferred)
- proficiency in English,
- experience in big data analyses, data visualisation etc.
- experience using Python or similar software,
- familiarity with ethical and other challenges related to big data research,
- experience of working in a team
Duties and responsibilities will include
- supporting PI in working with big data in relation to international careers,
- identification of relevant big data referring to selected professions that can be utilised in migration-related analyses (e.g. ORCID bibliometric data for analyses of migrations of academics),
- gaining access to the datasets (identification of conditions of access etc.),
- data preparation and cleaning,
- analyses focusing on mapping international career trajectories for academics and/or other professional groups etc.,
- participation in dissemination of the project (conferences presentations, co- and single-author academic papers, website materials).
Terms of awarding a scholarship
- Scholarship period (taking into account the conditions set out in the Regulations): 7 months,
- Monthly scholarship amount: 2850,00 PLN gross,
- Starting date (at earliest): January 2023.

- Scanned copy of student status confirmation (valid ID or certificate) – Msc, PhD;
- CV in Polish or in English, proving the applicant’s familiarity with the required software, experience, skills, and abilities.

Interview
The Recruitment Committee will conduct an interview with candidates who meet the Mandatory Requirements and have sent a complete set of Required Documents.
Decision
The decision is planned to be announced by January 15, 2022.
The results of the call will be published on the website of the Kozminski University.
The decision of the recruitment committee cannot be appealed against.
The rules of the call and candidates evaluation are set out Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships for NCN-funded research projects, Annex to Resolution No. 25/2019 of the NCN Council (https://www.ncn.gov.pl/sites/default/files/pliki/uchwaly-rady/2019/uchwala25_2019-zal1_ang.pdf)
The recruitment committee shall review proposals for NCN scholarships taking into account their completeness and compliance with the terms set out in the call announcement.
