On 6 June 2024, the 5th Energy Science and Economy Forum ‘Diversification of Technologies and Security of Energy Consumers’ was held. The forum was organised by the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Mercatus et Civis Foundation and the Association of Consumer Advocates.
The aim of the forum was to present technological, legal and economic solutions that respond to the current challenges of the energy market and take into account the needs of entrepreneurs and consumers. The forum aims to create a space for theoretical and practical discussions between academia, administration and business, while enabling thematic debates.
The main thematic areas for discussion included:
- Traditional and modern energy sources (such as coal, gas, hydrogen, nuclear and others),
- Competition and consumer protection,
- Environmental protection,
- State aid.
The Centre's Secretary Ms Aleksandra Knap spoke on a panel whose topic was: Diversification of technology and security of energy consumers. The panel was moderated by Dr Mirosław Pawełczyk, Professor at the University of Silesia. During her lecture, Ms Aleksandra addressed issues related to the definition of the energy transition.
The event was held under the honorary patronage of: Minister of Industry, President of the Energy Regulatory Office, President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
