Campus

Campus

Since the beginning of our existence we have been investing in our own facilities. Our premises are currently a complex of 5 modernly furnished and well-equipped buildings, covering a total area of about 16,500 square metres. This makes it possible for us to organize all classes in one place – at 57/59 Jagiellońska Street. Every year we adopt innovative architectural and technological solutions which make it easier to study and use the facilities of the University – including to people with disabilities.

Campus

The campus of Kozminski University is located in Warsaw at 57/59 Jagiellońska Street, in the Praga-Północ district. The facility can be accessed via a one-way internal road running parallel to Jagiellońska Street. The area surrounding the campus is largely tree-covered, and the side and rear sections are fenced.

The university is located in a complex of five interconnected buildings – A, B, C, D, and NA – linked by passageways. From Jagiellońska Street, there are two main entrances leading to Buildings A and D, while from the internal parking area for employees and students there are entrances to Buildings B, C, D, and NA. Pedestrian traffic at the main entrances is monitored through a video surveillance system.

Since its establishment, Kozminski University has continuously invested in its campus infrastructure. Today, the university offers a modern educational environment consisting of the building complex (A, B, C, NA, and D), which includes 6 lecture halls (auditoriums), 64 lecture rooms, most of which are multimedia-equipped and air-conditioned. The campus also includes six computer laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Additionally, the university provides paid and supervised parking access located between Buildings A and D.

Kozminski University places strong emphasis on ensuring the safety of the entire academic community and protecting property located on campus. All activities in this area are carried out in accordance with applicable legal regulations and internal policies, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for learning and work.

Security on Campus

The campus is protected 24 hours a day. Security services ensure continuous physical protection of the facility, as well as access control, intrusion and robbery alarm systems, continuous monitoring through a CCTV system, fire alarm systems, including operation of the Fire Detection System (SSP) in accordance with Kozminski University procedures and the recommendations of the Fire Department, reception services within the building.

The university applies a comprehensive system of internal safety procedures designed to ensure the protection of individuals on campus, enable effective responses in crisis situations, and provide psychological and organizational support for employees. This system covers several areas.

Information about the emergency number 112 and the internal KU safety number 22 519 2444 (or 4444 from university phones) is available in every classroom. Calls to this number are automatically routed to the first person designated to provide first aid on campus, who coordinates further actions and ensures contact with campus security.

Fully equipped first aid kits are available across the campus and are located in strategic points:

  • Reception desk in Building D
  • Room A-20
  • Dean's offices of the College of Law, Finance and Economics and the College of Management
  • Gym
  • Staff break rooms
  • Infrastructure Team

Additionally, two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are available on campus. They are located near the reception desk in Building D and in the food court area in Building NA. These devices are publicly accessible and intended for use in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

Every incident or accident should also be reported by email to [email protected], which allows immediate action to be taken both in providing assistance to injured persons and in activating safety procedures.

The University has an Evacuation Procedure that takes into account the safety of persons with disabilities, as well as Fire Safety Instructions. Campus buildings are clearly marked to enable quick and safe evacuation. Fire drills are regularly organized to reinforce proper behavior in emergency situations.

The campus is equipped with modern alarm systems:

  • Building D – audio-visual alarm with voice announcements
  • Buildings A, B and C – audio-visual alarm

Access to rooms is secured electronically through a card access system, which increases safety and allows better control of movement within the campus.

To ensure the safety of employees, students, and all individuals present on campus, new devices improving the level of protection have been installed.

In Building D (3rd floor) and Building A (2nd floor), Help Point devices have been installed. When the button is pressed, a direct connection with the BMS system is established, allowing immediate assistance to be requested. The device is equipped with a camera transmitting an image of the surrounding area, an intercom, a loudspeaker, and an induction loop for people with hearing impairments. Additionally, an information sign with icons explaining its use will be placed next to the device.

These solutions are intended to raise safety standards and ensure a rapid response in situations requiring assistance. The University systematically organizes training sessions and educational activities aimed at increasing awareness of safety issues and preparing employees and students to respond appropriately in crisis situations, including potential attacks or other threats.

In addition, the University offers self-defense classes for students and employees, conducted by certified trainers. These trainings strengthen a sense of agency, build psychological resilience, and increase awareness and the ability to react in threatening situations.

Catering Facilities – Availability, Quality and Variety of Offerings

The University features an extensive and diverse catering infrastructure, providing a wide selection of meals for the ALK community. Students and staff have access to three main restaurants serving lunch dishes. Near the entrance to Building A is Ministerstwo Smaku (Ministry of Taste), offering Polish cuisine. In the atrium of Building NA, there is a dining zone where Jajko Bistro & Cafe — serving Polish and Italian cuisine — and Rice Bistro & Sushi — specialising in Thai cuisine — both operate. All of these outlets are located on the ground floor.

The catering offer includes both full lunch meals and lighter options such as salads, sandwiches (cold and hot), simple desserts, smoothies and juices. In addition, a burger food truck operating in front of the campus offers a varied seasonal menu.

The University also has three cafés located on the ground floor of Buildings D and C, as well as a café on the second floor of Building A. The offer is further complemented by self-service coffee stations on the second and third floors of Building D, along with vending machines selling drinks and snacks available throughout the campus.

The variety and accessibility of the catering outlets mean that everyone can find something to suit their needs during teaching hours. The campus buildings are connected by a walkway, and each is equipped with a lift, ensuring easy and comfortable movement between them.

The catering establishments also run their own social media channels, where up-to-date menu information is regularly posted.

Facilities for students with disabilities

One of our goals is to be a university of equal opportunities. This means constant concern for strengthening a barrier-free environment at various levels.

The KU campus has been comprehensively adapted to the needs of students with mobility disabilities. All main entrances to buildings are equipped with automated door systems. There is a ramp leading to each building, and the buildings are connected by a connector so that people with mobility disabilities have easy access to the entire complex.

We have prepared parking spaces for people with disabilities, located near the main entrance, as well as at the entrance to the auditoria. The entrances to the buildings and classrooms are free of thresholds, facilitating wheelchair access. There are elevators in all buildings. Thanks to ramps, the passageways are barrier-free. Toilets have also been adapted accordingly.

In addition, information signs for the visually impaired and blind people has been placed at the University. With the support of EU funds, we bought specialized computer sets, which are equipped with Fusion Professional and Fine Reader 15 Standard software. The stations with computers are equipped with, among others, a Transformer HD enlarger, ClearViewC FullHD Speech, a scanner for reading and enlarging each printed text, a Focus 40 Braille monitor and a Braille printer. We have two such computer sets.

The University has induction loops for hearing-impaired people: stationary (reception D) and mobile, which can be placed in classrooms if needed..

In justified cases, a student with a disability can also count on the help of an assistant during classes.

The Office for Scholarships and Students with Special Needs can be found in building D, room D-213.

Renewable energy sources

Kozminski University uses ecological solutions and renewable energy sources – photovoltaic panels. We introduce solar energy into the electricity network of KU, which translates into savings and power supply from renewable energy sources. Currently, the installed devices enable the production of approximately 50 MWh of energy per year. This amount of energy can power nearly 15 apartments with an area of 100 m2 all year round.

In October 2024, we received a certificate confirming that the university uses electricity from 100% renewable energy sources, thus being a true example and a source of inspiration for other market players to develop energy sustainable and environmentally friendly companies. View the certificate

Apiary

The aim of city hives is to support the growth of the bee population. In urban areas, many honey-bearing trees such as linden, maples and acacia trees grow, from which bees extract nutritious nectar and then turn it into honey. In Warsaw alone, there are already several hundred city hives, which are located in parks, public facilities or on the roofs of the highest skyscrapers.

You can observe the hives from the connector between the buildings and from the entrance to the University's parking lot.

The first harvest of multifloral honey took place in September 2022.
