We already know the winners of the Leothon Young SDG Leaders competition!

On Wednesday, April 6, the Leothon Young SDG Leaders finals were organized at Kozminski University. We listened to presentations from 10 teams and learned about young people's ideas for solving the most pressing problems in the world today.

Young SDG Leaders 2022 Leothon at Kozminski University demonstrated the amazing creativity and engagement of secondary school students. Their SDG focused projects revealed a clear understanding of contemporary challenges and their passion for turning fresh ideas into opportunities for the whole society. Together with our strategic partners “Fundacja empiria i wiedza”, CFA Society Poland and E-mission we are strongly committed to support new generations on this path during the next Leothon “Young SDG Leaders 2023”, which starts in September 2022. - Franjo Mlinarič, Ph.D., Leader of the Financial Management program

First place was awarded to the "Baczyński" team from the K. K. Baczyński High School No. 3 in Białystok. The team developed a project called "areA - make your city sustainable". The developed application will allow for effective communication and education of citizens, promoting sustainable development. The team received a 60% discount for bachelor's degree studies in English.

Second place was awarded to the "Slapstick" team from the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bilingual Secondary School No. 8 in Katowice. The team worked on the Sowa project addressed to elderly people who need help. The platform they created is meant to bring together volunteers and elderly people in need of help or simply lonely. The team received a 40% discount for Bachelor's degree studies in English

Third place was taken by the team "Prus4People" from XXXV Boleslaw Prus High School in Warsaw. The third-place team tackled an important problem of air pollution in our country. Two solutions were proposed: one concerned planting plants on acoustic panels located on roads in the city of Warsaw, and the second proposal was to create open gardens in each district so that people who do not have gardens could spend time in a nice green environment. The team received a 20% discount for Bachelor's degree studies in English.

CFA Society Poland would like to thank you for the invitation as a partner in the competition. The level of presentation and involvement of young people in the implementation of socially responsible projects and realization of sustainable development goals arouses admiration and gives hope that their sensitivity will really make the world a friendlier place. The participants showed passion, preparation and faith in their abilities to act for the SDGs. I admit that it was difficult to choose the winner and the level of presentations positively surprised me. I believe that we will hear about many of the participants and many of them will become local leaders for global change. The Leothon competition is certainly a very valuable educational initiative, which I foresee as a success among initiatives supporting young and ambitious people engaged in improving the reality around them. - Magdalena Fac-Skhirtladze, Deputy Executive Director CFA Society Poland
