Stories of our Alumni

Matthias Kadnar

Hello, I'm Matthias. I graduated with distinction from Kozminski University in 2016, specializing in International Management. Seeking to expand my horizons, I pursued a master's degree in entrepreneurship at Cambridge University, which I completed in 2018. Alongside my studies at Kozminski, I also delved into Corporate Finance. At Cambridge, I deepened my understanding of Circular Economy and Sustainability, furthering my expertise in creating responsible and sustainable business practices.
After my educational journey, I worked as a business analyst, analyzing various business operations. However, fate had a surprise in store for me. During a Cambridge Alumni event, I had a fortunate encounter with my current boss, who recognized my potential and offered me a remarkable opportunity. Now, I proudly serve as a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate Spec. ESG & Sustainability, contributing my expertise and passion for creating positive change.
In the past 3 years, I have been actively involved in driving sustainable initiatives and making a difference. Notably, I audited a major Polish fuel producer and retailer, playing a key role in one of the largest Merger & Acquisition transactions in Polish history with my esteemed company.
While I have experienced success in my efforts to transform Poland into a sustainable ESG catalyst, I recognize that there is still much work to be done. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and I am committed to driving collective change and integrating ESG principles into business practices.
To current students and Alumni, I would like to emphasize the importance of chasing your dreams and seizing opportunities. Throughout my journey, I have learned that success often comes from being open to new experiences and taking calculated risks.
Have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. Embrace challenges and uncertainties, they lead to personal and professional growth. Stay receptive to unexpected opportunities, as they can bring valuable experiences and connections.
Remember, your journey is unique, and success may not happen overnight. Persevere, stay dedicated, and learn from both successes and failures. Life is a playground, and with the right mindset and a proactive approach, you can turn your aspirations into reality.
Let's embrace the journey, seize opportunities, and together, create a more sustainable and impactful future.

Weronika Ławniczak

My name is Weronika Ławniczak and my first education was a Master’s degree in civil engineering. For about 20 years (2000-2019) I worked as a Project Manager in large construction companies and government organizations. I took part in engineering projects in Poland, I managed teams and carried out high-level actvities. I graduated from Project Management (PRINCE2) and worked with subcontractors of all industries. As an engineer, I participated in scientific work on inventions to improve road safety.

After 20 years, I decided to choose a completely new way and open my own business because my life goal is combining business, science and well-being, help heal and increase vitality. While working with hundreds of people, I listened to their problems and needs. Unfortunately, they could not achieve life-balance. In 2014, I started my education to better understand the path to well-being.
My greatest success is the establishment of the Institute of Health and Beauty ‘Holispace’ in Warsaw in 2019. It is a place where, together with specialists in the medical community and natural medicine specialists, we take care of mental and physical comfort, health and beauty. We use methods with proven effects against professional burnout, reducing stress and pain as well as tension in the body. ‘Holispace’ is an innovative brand with the philosophy of a place ‘through health to beauty’, where I combined knowledge from around the world about natural methods for vitality and beauty with modern medical technologies. The setting up of the business happened in a very difficult time – pandemic, war, inflation. Today, I can proudly say that we achieve the highest opinions on all possible rating portals about the quality of our services.

I also believe that without learning and deepening knowledge there is no way to success, which is why in 2022 I completed post-graduate studies at the Kozminski University in the field of ‘Positive organization of well-being and health in the workplace’. It allowed me to successfully implement the wellbeing strategy in business and improve the well-being of employees. It also helped me develop my skills, broaden my competences and gave me a chance to open up to new possibilities offered by the world. Thanks to my studies at KU, I inspire and develop my students every day.

The pursuit of well-being is gaining in importance today. Taking the first step, which is entering the path of a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your own health and that of your employees in the working environment, is the answer to the volatility and uncertainty of the environment. Health prevention and wellbeing are combined in the relation ‘human – business - science.’
I have also developed the Self Immersion Method – a method for a conscious life in lightness -  and ‘5 steps to viality and longevity’ based on experience and many years of education and observation of my clients and patients.
My publications in the field of healthy and conscious lifestyle are shown on TV programs and many magazines. As a speaker at congresses I like to inspire positive lifestyle changes and self-development.

After 25 years of exploring the nature and needs of a human, many publications, interviews and finally establishing my company – with great joy I received the statuette ‘Leader in creating holism and holism in business’ of the Businesswoman & life magazine.

Dawid Gościk

After I graduated Kozminski Univeristy masters course I ended up working in a recruitment agency in the center of Warsaw.
The company where I landed was not sharing or implementing the values taught in KU, which was a big disappointment for me. As a consequence of that I had abandoned my path with HR, which was major hit in my life, my ego, and my finances.
Being a person from an entrepreneurial background and with business education from KU found a job in a language school offering business English conversations to managers and CEOs.
Over the years I have collected a very strong portfolio of top executives, state company directors, large entrepreneurs, and even actors.
Today I have a boutique language agency called David‘s Methods where we offer language coaching services to the business world.
The process of language coaching is our author methods combining the development of language skills as well as personal and professional skills to deliver maximum engagement.
The formula is simple: if you know the language above B1, you should be learning it through practice and tasks that are directly related to your personal or professional life.
Because of my background, experience, education, and the network I’ve built over the years I am currently assisting professionals and improving their communication skills, giving access to freshest data unavailable on the Polish market, and fighting their inner barriers which prevent them from excelling to international markets.
Being brutally honest: this was not my planned path. However I found a niche and combining language and business development due to my education and KU and being brought up in a bilingual environment in the American school of Warsaw.
Another thing that needs to be said about bilingual work is that expressing your emotions and dilemmas in foreign language is easier than in your native tongue. There is scientific research which backs out these claims and proves that talking about your things in English for example, can I help you unlock different parts of your brain.
My long-term plan is to create a community which combines language development and business relations giving the opportunity to young and ambitious people to enter the International labor market.
Currently, I run a language agency cooperating with a group of five selected specialists. We have a marketing strategy for the next 2 years, which we are implementing with the newly formed team.
I have been working with Maciej Panek for 1.5 years now and act as their influencer / content creator for Panek Carsharing on their social media.

Annemarie Dalka

My name is Annemarie Dalka and I graduated from Kozminski University in 2010 with a Master’s degree in Management and Marketing.
Choosing this field of study, I thought that consulting was my vocation, but after talking to a partner in a leading consulting company, I discovered that I am much more interested in investment
banking, which can give me greater development opportunities in many industries that interest me.
Two months before defending my master’s thesis, I received an offer and started working in investment banking at BNP Paribas in a bank branch in Warsaw. I worked mainly on large financing and M&A transactions. After a year I moved to London because I wanted to try working on the trading floor – first in DCM and then in commodity derivatives.
Then I was recruited to the Asset Management arm at BNP Paribas, where I was able to use the previously acquired knowledge about various products, being responsible for advising the largest institutional clients in Europe.
In 2017, I returned to Poland, joining te PFR Group, where I worked on strategic projects, including introducing Employee Capital Plans or establishing the first Fund investing in private Equity and Venture Capital funds, for which I was awarded the Person of the Year award granted by the Polish Association of Capital Investors.
In June 2023, I will finish my studies, this time at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
I am always glad to return to Kozminski University, sitting on the Advisory Board for Studies in Management, Entrepreneurship and Psychology and giving guest lectures.
My happiest memory from studying at Kozminski is going to Seattle and participating in the Global Business Case Competition at the University of Washington with my friend from the year, Dorota Styla.
