GLOBAL WELCOME – Building Bridges at Kozminski University
Project financed from European funds from the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS), NAWA project entitled "Support for higher education and science institutions in serving foreigners and Poles traveling abroad" (FERS.01.05.IP.08-0003/24).
GOAL OF THE PROJECT
THE MAIN GOAL OF THE PROJECT is to increase KU's internationalization and enhance its competitiveness in the international market by developing its capacity to accept and serve international students by September 2027.
This goal will be achieved through the implementation of three tasks:
1) DEVELOPMENT OF WELCOME POINT – including the Students Guide application, which enables easier access to information and support for both newcomers and current international students, the organization of integration events, and training on topics such as legal aspects;
2) EXPANSION OF THE INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE – supplementing the information system with the installation of 40 additional e-paper displays and one outdoor totem, which will support orientation within the campus;
3) DEVELOPMENT OF THE STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM – through the implementation of a series of training sessions enhancing their competencies in intercultural support and effective communication with international students.
TARGET GROUP
Project activities will be addressed to 30 people – KU administrative staff (departments maintaining ongoing contact with foreigners, e.g., Welcome Point, reception) – to effectively support, welcome, and serve foreigners, thus meeting the needs of this group in strengthening their relevant competencies.
RESULTS
- Building an integrated community that is engaged in KU's activities,
- Professionalizing staff and student services within the Welcome Point,
- Improving the competencies of KU's administrative staff (24 people) in effectively supporting, welcoming, and serving foreigners,
- Facilitating orientation on campus and acclimatization in the new space for foreign students and staff,
- Increasing the acculturation of foreigners,
- Creating a network of University ambassadors (KU students) worldwide who are also engaged participants in academic life in Poland,
- Achieving a LONG-TERM, positive impact on building the University's prestige as a modern and attractive place for those wishing to study and work in our country.
