VALOR Seminar Series: LGBT Rights and Strategic Litigation in the EU: From CJEU Judgments to National Implementation

Date: June 2, 2026 | Time: 17:00-18:00 CET | Online & ON-SITE

Speaker: Anna Mazurczak, Attorney-at-law

As part of the VALOR project seminar series, we will discuss strategic litigation concerning LGBT rights under European Union law and the implementation of relevant Court of Justice of the European Union judgments in EU Member States, notably, Poland. The seminar will also provide an opportunity to reflect on how grassroots advocacy towards state authorities operates in countries where the level of protection of LGBT rights remains relatively low, including the legal, political and social challenges surrounding implementation of these judgments.

Our guest speaker will be Anna Mazurczak, an attorney-at-law specialising in litigation concerning LGBT rights before the CJEU and the ECtHR. She previously served as Director of the Department for Equal Treatment at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, where she was responsible, among other things, for drafting legislation on civil partnerships. Prior to that, she worked as a lawyer at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. She is currently an independent researcher and practising attorney-at-law.
