Useful information

The databases can be accessed:

  • On campus To access the databases available on the ALK Library website, simply connect to the wireless network on your own device, or use one of the computers in the computer labs located at the University.

  • Off campus To access the databases, you will need to configure a connection to the proxy server. Step-by-step instructions explaining the entire procedure can be found below:

  1. Computers
  2. Mobile devices running Android

Please note that after configuring the proxy server connection, you will lose the ability to browse the Internet freely. Only the database websites, the ALK homepage, and the ALK Library website will remain accessible.

Several of the databases available to students can only be accessed on campus. Please therefore make sure that the database you wish to use off campus actually allows access in this way.

I have configured the proxy server connection, but I still cannot access the databases. Why?

After configuring the proxy server connection, you still need to log in to it. You can do so using the same credentials you use to log in to the Virtual University. Please also note that after configuring the proxy server connection, you will lose the ability to browse the Internet freely. Only the ALK homepage, the ALK Library website, database websites, the Virtual University, the iKoźmiński portal, and Google search engine will remain accessible. Attempting to visit any other website will display the following message:

This message does not indicate a lack of access to the database or an incorrect configuration, but rather that the connection to this website is being blocked by a proxy server. Please check whether you can connect to the Kozminski University homepage without any issues.

There are two reprographic service points operating on the university campus.

On the ground floor of building D, directly in front of the library entrance, there is a Copy4student service point offering the following services:

  • photocopying and printing (black-and-white and colour), up to A0+ format
  • scanning
  • binding of bachelor's, master's, postgraduate, and doctoral theses
  • assistance with preparing documents for printing (text formatting)
  • sale of basic stationery
  • photos for diplomas.

In room A-21 (on the ground floor of building A) there is a copy point offering the following services:

  • photocopying and printing (black-and-white and colour) in A4 and A3 format
  • binding of bachelor's, master's, and other theses in hardcovers
  • comb binding.

In accordance with the ALK Library Regulations, the maximum borrowing period for a book — depending on the user's status — is as follows:

  • student — 28 days
  • final-year student — 42 days
  • parallel studies student — 42 days
  • postgraduate studies participant — 42 days
  • doctoral studies participant — 70 days
  • MBA studies participant — 70 days
  • graduate — 28 days
  • staff member — 90 days

Please note that in the case of overdue books, a fine of PLN 1 per day of delay is charged for each borrowed copy.

If you are finishing your studies or employment at our university, you must return all books even if the standard return deadline has not yet passed. Returning all books is a mandatory condition for the Library to approve your clearance card.

In accordance with the ALK Library Regulations, the maximum number of borrowed books — depending on the user's status — is as follows:

  • student — 5 volumes
  • final-year student — 7 volumes
  • parallel studies student — 10 volumes
  • postgraduate studies participant — 7 volumes
  • doctoral studies participant — 7 volumes
  • MBA studies participant — 7 volumes
  • graduate — 2 volumes
  • staff member — 20 volumes

Please note that if, for example, a publication consists of two separately published volumes and the user borrows both, this is counted as borrowing 2 volumes.
