Katarina Pavlovic is assistant professor at the Faculty for project and innovation management in Belgrade, Serbia. She is a graduated biochemist with PhD in Quality management. She is especially bonded to the pharmaceutical sector as she started her career in a big pharmaceutical company in Serbia where she acquired knowledge and experience giving her the opportunity for advancement later on.   

With over 20 years now of industrial experience and four years of experience in academia, she connects science with her expertise in business topics reaching targeted results. She addresses the challenges related to good project management practices, competencies and leadership as a key part of success in clinical research industry. As every clinical trial is a complex project she helps clinical research organization in raising the quality and performance levels. 

Dr. Pavlovic teaches introductory and upper level courses in General Management, Contemporary Management, Project Management, Risks in Project Management, Knowledge and Innovation Management and Change Management with profound emphasis on fostering students’ commitment to learning and contribution to different aspects of business activities. Her major scientific research interests are in specificities of Agile transformation of businesses, application of methodologies of Knowledge and Innovation management, contribution of different aspects of leadership to overall business objectives and more.  

She has thorough experience with strategy and business development along with innovation as a parameter for development and competitiveness. In consulting services she addresses the issues of corporate growth, changing market conditions, capital requirements and investment options, risk mitigation, agile and business model transformation, learning and leadership. Her portfolio of consulting services includes 39 companies.

Hope is Director of Project Operations, Imperial Clinical Research Services. She has been with Imperial since 2007, and started as Imperial’s first project manager. In her current role, she leads a team of 12 project managers and associates to provide patient engagement, material production, procurement, assembly, and logistics services for clients in support of global clinical trials. She also oversees client interaction, workload management, work processes and improvements, and revenue growth through customer service and relationship development efforts. Hope has been instrumental in utilizing project management processes to drive project results across therapeutic areas for clients as Imperial supports more than 4,500 active protocols.

Paweł Orzeł

PPD, ALK

A graduate of Oxford Brooks University (MBA Business Administration), the College of Management (Business Management), and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Faculty of Food Technology). He has been involved in clinical trials for 17 years. Thanks to many years of work in the largest pharmaceutical corporations and global CRO companies, in specialist, manager, and director positions, he perfectly understands the clinical trials market. He knows the Sponsor's perspective and the companies conducting research on his behalf.  

Since 2015, he has been professionally associated with PPD, where, in cooperation with multidisciplinary research teams, he manages global research projects. As Project Director and Oversight Director, he is responsible for managing global programs and projects as well as building relationships with strategic clients of the organization.

A long-time lecturer and promoter of the Kozminski University, the Catholic University of Lublin, and the Medical University of Lublin. Author and substantive manager of the postgraduate studies program - Project Management in Clinical Research.

Karol Szczukiewicz

Optimapharm, ALK

From 2016, a member of the board of the Association for Good Clinical Research Practice in Poland (GCPpl). Chairman of the GCPpl training group in 2016-2021. He has extensive experience in the field of training, being a speaker at many industry conferences and as a lecturer at such universities as the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, the University of Warsaw, the Medical University of Warsaw, the Medical University of Białystok, and the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. Medical Research Agency expert.  

The initiator and coordinator of the "Leaders of Clinical Research" industry competition and many other educational projects in the field of clinical trials. Actively supports the development of non-commercial research in Poland. He specializes in project management, the area of ​​personal data protection in the field of clinical trials, and e-health solutions.

In his professional career to date, he has worked in global CRO and pharmaceutical companies (PAREXEL, PSI CRO, ICON, Roche, Janssen Cilag), developing skills in monitoring and managing clinical trials of phases I-IV in many therapeutic indications (including oncology, neurology, pulmonology, cardiology, ophthalmology, nephrology, and infectious diseases). Currently, he is a Senior Project Manager at Optimapharm.
