Information for Current Students 

When, where and how to submit applications for rector’s scholarship for the academic year 2020/2021: 

WHEN:

Applications for a rector’s scholarship will be available on our website and accepted from 15 to 31 October 2020.

WHERE AND HOW:

Applications can be submitted:
(please read carefully – NOWHERE does it say that the application can be sent in the form of a scanned copy by e-mail. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE):

1. by leaving them IN THE MAILBOX labelled “stypendia” (scholarships/grants) in the front office area in building D - after you leave your application in the mailbox, please send a notification of this fact to  paulinasidor@kozminski.edu.pl; only when you receive a response confirming that the application has been received (meaning taken out from the mailbox) will it mean that the application has been accepted for consideration,

2. by sending them by traditional MAIL to the address of the university, in an envelope with an annotation reading “stypendia” (scholarships/grants) or addressed to Magdalena Skopiec (please send an e-mail with information that the application for the .... (enter the name of the grant/scholarship) was sent on ... – to  paulinasidor@kozminski.edu.pl), (NOTICE! In the case of applications for a rector’s scholarship, apart from sending the application by traditional mail, please also send a scanned copy of the application by e-mail together with information confirming the fact of sending it by mail - for information purposes only, sending the scanned copy DOES NOT equal submitting the application),

3. IN PERSON at the university (upon arrival to the front office in building D, you need to inform the staff you have an appointment at the Office for Scholarships and for Students with Special Needs; one of our employees will come to you and handle your case at a student counter in the open space: in the front office area); appointments can be scheduled only during duty hours - link or to a different time upon a prior arrangement (we’re very sorry but we won’t handle cases of persons who don’t make an appointment in advance and wish to visit us outside duty hours; this involves a disruption of the workflow and has to do with the matter of safety in the current epidemiological situation).

Alternatively, if you submit your application to the mailbox, you can ask the staff of the front office to ask an employee of our office to come and verify the authenticity of the submitted document by comparing the submitted copy and the original you will need to have with you.

  • APPLICATION FOR A RECTOR’S SCHOLARSHIP

Application for a rector’s scholarship, meaning appendix 4 to the Student Support Regulations (regulations on the benefits granted to students) - STOP: check the details (e.g. correspondence address, phone number) in the Virtual University system and update them if they have changed and are not the same as in the application (in the ‘Update contact details’ section). Especially the correspondence address needs to be same in the application and in the Virtual University system. It’s impossible to change the details in the Virtual University system via the app; you need to log in to the Virtual University via the website to make changes.

  • APPLICATION FORM (appendix no. 4 to the Regulations) - download file

The application must be submitted on a form in Polish. Attachment "help_ appendix no. 4" is in English, as a help in filling in the Polish form – download help_ appendix no. 4

Apart from appendix 4, you also need to submit appendix 4A or/and 4B or/and 4C or/and 4D accordingly - depending on the basis to apply for the scholarship (please print appendix 4A, 4B, 4C, or 4D as a continuation of appendix 4, please print the entire set in the two-sided (duplex) mode); NOTICE: the submitted application needs to come with a confirmation of the grade point average/student from the dean’s office - as an exception, in the academic year 2020/21, applications can be submitted without this confirmation; the confirmation will be obtained by the Office for Scholarships and for Students with Special Needs, and if there are any differences in the grade point average or other problems, you’ll be notified of them by an e-mail message sent to your KU inbox.  

  • continued application for a rector’s scholarship for students applying for the said scholarship on the basis of a high grade point average (grounds of the application), meaning appendix 4A to the Regulations - download file. The application must be submitted on a form in Polish. Attachment "help_ appendix no. 4A" is in English, as a help in filling in the Polish form – download help_ appendix no. 4A
  • continued application for a rector’s scholarship for students applying for the said scholarship on the basis of sports achievements (grounds of the application), meaning appendix 4B to the Regulations - download file. The application must be submitted on a form in Polish.


NOTICE - a change: all requests and applications, including those concerning sports achievements, shall be submitted to the Office for Scholarships and for Students with Special Needs, and not to Marek Wolkowycki - as it was in previous years. The Grants Committee will contact Mr Wolkowycki to ask him to confirm the reported achievements and to give his approval as the Sports Centre Director; if there is no approval or/and if the reported achievements are not confirmed, you’ll be notified of the fact by an e-mail message sent to your KU inbox.

  • continued application for a rector’s scholarship for students applying for the said scholarship on the basis of academic or artistic achievements (grounds of the application), meaning appendix 4C to the Regulations - download file. The right of foreigners to apply for scholarships from the state budget (social scholarship, disability scholarship, rector's scholarship and one-off assistance grant) is diverse and depends, among others, on the date of commencement of studies.

Foreigners who commenced studies in the academic year 2019/2020 (and in the following years) are entitled to apply for a social scholarship, disability scholarship, the Rector's scholarship and an assistance grant.

The regulations of the scholarships are governed by rules laid down in Article 324 of the Act of 20 July 2018. Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2018, item 1668 as amended).

AN ASSISTANCE GRANT

  • An assistance grant may be awarded to students who find themselves temporarily in difficult life circumstances.

Requests for assistance grants need to be submitted according to the guidelines defined in the announcement of the KU Grants Committee of 02.04.2020, published on the university’s website – file

SOCIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Foreigners who started their studies in the academic year 2019/2020 can apply for social scholarship only if they belong to one of the groups listed below:

  • Foreigners who have been granted a resident permit or EU long-term residents.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a fixed-term residence permit pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 159, section 1 or Article 186, section 1, item 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2018, item 2094 and 2399, and of 2019, item 577 and 622).
  • Foreigners who hold refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland or who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners – holders of certificates confirming their knowledge of Polish as a foreign language, referred to in Article 11a, section 2 of the Act of 7 October 1999 on the Polish language (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2019, item 1480), proving their proficiency in the Polish language at the level of at least C1.
  • Holders of the Polish Charter (Karta Polaka) card or individuals having been given a decision on the determination of the Polish origin.
  • A foreigner who is a spouse, an ascendant, or a descendant of a citizen of the Republic of Poland, living in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • A foreigner who has been granted a fixed-term residence permit pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 159, section 1 or Article 186, section 1, item 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners, or residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland by benefiting from the short-term mobility of researchers on conditions defined in Article 151b, section 1 of the said Act or holding a national visa issued for the purpose of conducting research or development work

A social scholarship may be awarded to a student in difficult material circumstances. The per capita family monthly income level  may not be higher than 1.051,70 PLN.For each academic year, the scholarship amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the number of applications and the state of the fund. In the 2019/2020 academy year, the monthly amount of the scholarship is as follows 1,450 PLN.

DISABILITY SCHOLARSHIP

  • The disability scholarship can be applied for by all foreigners who started studies in the academic year 2019/2020 if they have a document confirming their disability issued by the Polish adjudicating body.
  • For each academic year the amount of the scholarship is determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the number of applications and the state of the fund. In the 2019/2020 academic year, monthly scholarship amounts are as follows: PLN 450, PLN 620, PLN 850.

THE RECTOR'S SCHOLARSHIP

The Rector's scholarship may be granted to a student who:

  • in the previous academic year, obtained aa GPA of at least 4.50 
  • in the previous academic year he had scientific/artistic achievements 
  • in the previous academic year had sporting achievements at least at national level.
  • Applications are accepted once a year: in October.
  • For each academic year, the scholarship amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the number of applications and the state of the fund. In the academic year 2019/2020 the monthly amounts of the Rector's scholarship for the average grade are as follows: 350 PLN, 450 PLN, 550 PLN, 650 PLN, 750 PLN.

STUDENT LOAN

The student loan can be applied for by foreigners who started studying in the academic year 2019/2020 only if they belong to one of the following groups:

  • Foreigners who have been granted a resident permit or EU long-term residents.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a fixed-term residence permit pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 159, section 1 or Article 186, section 1, item 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2018, item 2094 and 2399, and of 2019, item 577 and 622).
  • Foreigners who hold refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland or who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners – holders of certificates confirming their knowledge of Polish as a foreign language, referred to in Article 11a, section 2 of the Act of 7 October 1999 on the Polish language (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2019, item 1480), proving their proficiency in the Polish language at the level of at least C1.

The application for a student loan is submitted to one of the banks listed below:

  • PKO Bank Polski S.A,
  • Bank PEKAO S.A,
  • Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości S.A. (together with associated cooperative banks),
  • SGB-Bank S.A. (together with associated cooperative banks).

The amount of monthly income per person in the family, entitling to a loan in the year 2019/2020 is PLN 2,500.
A student loan can be granted to a student who is under 30 years of age.

Foreigners who commenced their studies before the academic year 2019/2020 are entitled to apply for a social scholarship, disability scholarship, the Rector's scholarship and an assiatance grant.

The regulations of the scholarships are governed by rules laid down in Article 43 of the Act of 27 July 2005. Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2017, item 2183 as amended).

AN ASSISTANCE GRANT

Foreigners who started their studies before the academic year 2019/2020 can apply for assistance only if they belong to one of the groups listed below:

  • Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit.
  • Foreigners who hold refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Employed migrants who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as members of their families if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a European Community long-term residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a fixed-term residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Poland pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 127, Article 159, section 1 or Article 186, section 1, item 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2016, item 1990, 1948, and 2066, and of 2017, item 60, 858, and 1543);
  • Foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, as well as members of their families, having the right of permanent residence.
  • Holders of a valid Polish Charter card (Karta Polaka).

An assistance grant may be awarded to students who find themselves temporarily in difficult life circumstances.

A social scholarship may be awarded to a student in difficult material circumstances. The per capita family monthly income level  may not be higher than 1.051,70 PLN.

For each academic year, the scholarship amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the number of applications and the state of the fund. In the 2019/2020 academy year, the monthly amount of the scholarship is as follows 1,450 PLN.

DISABILITY SCHOLARSHIP

The disability scholarship can be applied for by all foreigners who started studies before the academic year 2019/2020 if they have a document confirming their disability issued by the Polish adjudicating body and belong to one of the following groups:

  • Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit.
  • Foreigners who hold refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Employed migrants who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as members of their families if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

  • Foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, as well as members of their families, having the right of permanent residence.
  • Holders of a valid Polish Charter card (Karta Polaka).

For each academic year, the scholarship amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the number of applications and the state of the fund. In the 2019/2020 academy year, monthly scholarship amounts for the disabled are as follows 450 PLN, 620 PLN, 850 PLN.

THE RECTOR'S SCHOLARSHIP

The Rector's scholarship may be applied for by foreigners who started studies before the year of the academy. 2019/2020, only if they belong to one of the following groups:

  • Citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, as well as members of their families.
  • Holders of a valid Polish Charter card (Karta Polaka).
  • Non-nationals holding a residence permit with the “access to the labour market” annotation, or a Schengen visa, or a visa issued for the purpose of performing work in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit.
  • Foreigners who hold refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Employed migrants who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as members of their families if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
  • Foreigners who have been granted a European Community long-term residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Foreigners who have been granted a fixed-term residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Poland pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 127, Article 159, section 1 or Article 186, section 1, item 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2016, item 1990, 1948, and 2066, and of 2017, item 60, 858, and 1543).
  • Foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

The Rector's scholarship may be granted to a student who:

  • Foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, as well as members of their families, having the right of permanent residence.

The application for a student loan is submitted to one of the banks listed below:

A student loan can be granted to a student who started the studies before 25 years of age.
