Lions of Kozminski awarded!

The official inauguration of the 2022/2023 academic year took place on 3rd October. During the ceremony KU Proffesor Witold T. Bielecki PhD, President of our Academy and Chairman of the Competition Chapter, presented statuettes to the winners of Kozminski Lions.

Kozminski's Lions is an annual competition aimed at selecting graduates distinguished by a spectacular career that can serve as a model for students and graduates of the university. The statuette presented is an expression of recognition of the graduate's professional achievements and thanks for representing Kozminski University with dignity.

The award in a given category is decided by the Awards Committee, formed by university professors and business practitioners.

This year the statuette was awarded to:

Manager category: Ms. Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, President of the Management Board of Pomeranian Hospitals, Graduate of Kozminski MBA for Medical Personnel.

Pomeranian Hospitals is a company employing 3,600 people. Ms. President's greatest professional challenge was the consolidation of four Pomeranian hospitals and the implementation of 50 health care investments worth more than PLN 400 million. Thanks to effective management and Ms. President's knowledge from her MBA at Kozminski, the company stopped generating debts and reached 30 million in gross profit in 2021.

Lawyer category: Mr. Mateusz Zawistowski PhD, Managing Director at ffVC, a doctor of law at Kozminski University.

ffVC specializes in serving the capital market, venture capital and startups. The institution negotiates transactions and supervises portfolio companies, and supports legal teams. Mr. Mateusz Zawistowski started the ffVC office in Poland and completed 13 VC transactions in 12 months. For his pro bono work, the ALK alumnus received the 2016 and 2017 White & Case Global Pro Bono Award.

Entrepreneur category: Mr. Grzegorz Krupnik, President of PROTECH, Executive MBA Graduate.

PROTECH is a manufacturer of heating boilers and a provider of sheet metal and steel processing services: laser cutting, press bending, welding, shot-blasting, painting and assembly. With 700 employees, the company from Zator, Lesser Poland, emphasizes research and development, holds several patents, boasts higher-than-EU average robotization of production, and at the same time cares about employees and takes ecology seriously. The company organizes collective commuting for employees and has equipped them with electric bicycles. And PROTECH's main product supports renewable energy solutions.
