Kozminski Business Club has successfully organized a discussion panel in Venture Cafe!

04.05.2023

On 27th of April Kozminski Business Club organized a thrilling discussion panel during the Thursday Gathering #144 by Venture Cafe Warsaw on a topic "The Power of Purpose: Intersection of tech and social impact”.

The discussion panel was featuring 4 panelists: Filip Sobel and Mateusz Masiak - 2 very young and talented men whose innovative startups, Staffly and Envirly, are a living proof of how technology can be a powerful tool in driving positive social and environmental change, Angelina Leniec (Co-founder & CMO of The Cognity) and Martyna Kamińska who successfully represented KBC and finally made it the part of the CIC Warsaw venue weekly events.

During this engaging discussion, the panelists shared their view on the role of education and public awareness in promoting the use of technology for social impact. They underlined the importance of creating a more equitable and sustainable society; even shared some advice for Polish policymakers. Event's moderator - Ahmad Piraiee made the audience feel as if it was a part of discussion by visualising all discussed aspects owing to plenty additional insights and down to earth comparisons.

Initially, our student business club was focused on connecting with start-up founders with a view to gain some insights into their entrepreneurial journeys. However, the emerging field of artificial intelligence and its potential impact on society drew our attention. Given the widespread concerns surrounding its use, we decided to address the issue by organising a discussion panel that would present its potential utilisation to create a positive impact on the society. We believed we could help shift the current narrative by assembling a group of up-and-coming experts recognised by Forbes, who daily prove AI was not inherently good or bad, but its impact mostly depends on responsible development and usage. - says the president of Kozminski Business Club, Martyna Kamińska

After the end of discussion, the attendees were taking part in a networking session that provided them with the opportunity to gain contacts from the invited guests who, despite being on the Forbes 25under25 list, had the time and willingness to meet the attendees of the meeting and share their knowledge and insights with them. KBC thanked all the guests for coming, handed over gifts on behalf of the university, and, in accordance with tradition, asked for signatures on the sweatshirt , which KBC plans to auction in June and allocate the collected funds for charity. The evening was finished in the Italian restaurant where the members of KBC had an opportunity to share their impressions of the meeting and talk about the future of the club.

After the meeting we were hooked by a few people, asking about the club and even expressing their interest in joining it. They were people from different countries, of different ages, with different professional profiles. One of the participants even graduated from KU 10 years ago and follows KBC on social media. Also, we were extremely satisfied by the meeting attendance, since approximately 50 seats were occupied, 10 of which were taken by  KBC representatives who bring a lot to our community with their presence. After so many events that we have organized this year (although there are still a lot of them on the horizon), we have become very close and that is why we are able to provide valuable content practically every week. We are exceptionally strong as a group and love spending time together. - says Martyna Kamińska
