Internships, Career Counseling, Psychological Support for KU students
As part of the project Academy 360 - Integrated Quality Improvement System at KU co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development 2014-2020, our students have the opportunity to complete paid student internships. They develop competencies related to their chosen field of study and gain interesting professional experience.
Since the beginning of the project, a total of 250 people have started internships (94 law students, 22 finance and accounting students (Polish program), 14 finance and accounting (English program), and 120 management students. Below you can find a testimonial given by some of them.
I am studying on the Master in Finance & Accounting program. I was looking for an internship to gain more experience in the field and Kozminski’s EU internship program supported me through this period. I got an offer from BNP Paribas Security Services with the assist from the EU program. During my internship, my mains tasks involved working with the Equities/Bonds Pricing teams and liaising with providers such as Bloomberg. Furthermore, my other task was supporting the preparation of weekly reports for specific markets. After the 3 months of the internship period, I have signed my full-time contract as Junior Specialist with BNP Paribas Security Services. - recommends Omer Berker Civan, a student of the Master in Finance & Accounting program.
Two years ago I was accepted as a Junior Chatbot Designer Trainee at Agencja K2. Without Kozminsky University's help, this would not have been possible. I’m proud that I was a part of the Kozminsky community and I took part in the STAŻ 360 project which gave me an opportunity to know artificial intelligence in practice. During the internship, I developed specific competencies such as designing effective conversational experiences between humans and machines as well as interpreting NLU (Natural Language Understanding) performance metrics. My commitment and skills turned out to be sufficient to get a permanent job in the Chatbot Designers’ team. If, like me a few years ago, you are looking for an interesting job, take part in the STAŻ 360 project! - says Sylwia Borzęcka, alumni of our graduate program in management (polish track).
Career counseling organized by the Career and Alumni Office is available to all Kozminski University students. During individual meetings - both online and stationary - with the support of career counselors, students have the opportunity to prepare for recruitment processes as well as reflect on their future career paths. Each participant has the opportunity to verify or create from scratch an effective CV and prepare for an interview in a selected company.
I worked with Ms. Katarzyna Sowa for several months. She provided me with career counseling and coaching. I am amazed at her exceptional knowledge in this area. She equipped me with a set of skills that I have successfully implemented, and I am already seeing the results. She was excellent in helping me develop a career plan and justify each step. She asked many difficult questions that I didn't have the courage to approach on my own - I definitely needed to talk to such a professional. Ms. Katarzyna is a coach with broad horizons. Always prepared, always knows the answer to the question, always professional. She definitely sets an example as a member of KU society. I am glad that we were able to meet and work together for my future success. I hope we will have the opportunity to work together again! I definitely recommend participating in these consultations!" - said Maciej Mordal, Master in Finance and Accounting student.
Participation in the consultation also gives you the opportunity to learn about your career preferences and strengths through professional diagnostic tests such as FRIS® and CliftonStrengths® (Gallup's Talent). For the best students, we also have job and internship offers in top companies cooperating with the University.
Our university also cares about the well-being of the academic community. One of the tasks of the Wellbeing Office is to provide ad hoc psychological support to students and staff of KU. Depending on the type of situation, the office staff: Marzena Indra and Michal Godlewski offer consultations or counseling to determine a person's needs and ways to support them. The office also provides access to psychotherapeutic and psychiatric consultations in cooperation with an external organization as part of the Accessible-Open-Creative project co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development.
