About the program

DATES AND PRICE

  • Price: 1350 PLN for 60 teaching hours (one teaching hour = 45 minutes)

TEACHER 

Łukasz Sorokowski

He has graduated in English Studies and International Relations from the University of Warsaw. For the past decade, he has been working as an academic, translator/interpreter, and course instructor, striving to elucidate the intricacies of English: mostly General English, but also Business and Legal English. He has been running the Kozminski Summer School of English course for the past couple of years.

THE AIMS OF THE COURSE 

  • Identification of ‘weak points’ in language competence.
  • Practising two active skills of speaking and writing.
  • Acquisition of high-frequency terminology.
  • Preparation for B2 exam.

FOR WHOM 

The course is offered to full-time and part-time students who wish to achieve B2 language competence.

Participation in the course for students studying law does not give credit to a legal English course.

 

Subjects and schedule

SYLLABUS 

Every day there will be three modules: grammar and vocabulary, speaking and writing. The time spent on each module will be flexible and will depend on students’ needs.

Vocabulary

  • General vocabulary at B2 level
  • Basic business terminology
  • High-frequency phrases

Grammar

  • Revision of grammar at B2 level.

Speaking Module

  • Pair work
  • Questions and answers
  • Summarising
  • Group discussions
  •  Relating past events
  • Paraphrasing
  • Product presentations
  • Giving opinions
  • Talking about future
  • Giving information

Business Writing Module

  • Written communication in business- general rules
  • Kinds of business documents
  • Style and tone
  • Structure
  • Analysis of model documents
  • High-utility terms and phrases
  • Individual and group writing


Materials will be developed specifically for the group so as to focus on practising speaking and writing skills. They will be distributed to students during the course.

B2 exam will be taken on the last day of the course and it will be composed of two parts. The speaking part will take 10 minutes and the written part will include business writing and will last 150 minutes.

(1 teaching hour = 45 minutes)
