On November 21st, 2016, the Minister of Digital Affairs Anna Strężynska chose members for the Ministry Council for Digitization. Amongst this prestigious group is Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, the Kozminski University Vice-Rector for International Relations.
Ms Elżbieta Jendrych, Ph.D.
Ms Jendrych has a Ph.D. degree in linguistics. She is experienced in teaching Business English, English for Banking and Finance and Business Skills. Since 1995 Ms Jendrych has been working for Kozminski University as the Director of the Centre of Foreign Languages and the Head of the TOLES Language Certification Centre. She worked as a reviewer for “The Journal of Languages and Culture”, an adviser for ‘’Intelligent Business Advanced’’ and ‘’Financial English’’ (published by Pearson). She wrote 14 books for the study of English for Specific Purposes and numerous articles published in scientific journals in Poland and abroad. Her research interests include CLIL, business terminology, business collocations, parametric analysis of ESP texts and corpus linguistics.
The Course is aimed at acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills needed to function in an English-speaking business environment as well as at preparation of teachers and lecturers to teach Business English.
The curriculum is focused on understanding the terminology and phraseology of business English, understanding the fundamentals of business, acquisition of key business skills, comprehension and analysis of specialized texts , as well as mastering the principles, forms and styles of selected business texts. Lectures concentrate on business terminology and on acquiring basic knowledge of business processes and mechanisms, management, finance, banking and marketing.
The purpose of the studies is the acquisition by students of specialized knowledge and skills needed to function in an English-speaking business environment as well as the preparation of teachers and lecturers to teach Business English.
The curriculum is focused on understanding the terminology and phraseology of the business language , understand the basics of business , the acquisition of business skills, comprehension and analysis of specialized texts , as well as mastering the principles, forms and styles of various texts prepared for the needs of businesses. Lectures expanding specialist terminology and knowledge of the basics of management , finance, marketing and law.
The postgraduate Business Studies in English program can be completed after passing all exams during the studies. Final verification of knowledge and language skills will be conducted through final tests in two leading subjects (1)Fundamentals of Business (with elements of Finance and Banking) and (2)Business Writing. In addition, students will be expected to write an essay on a business topic and to prepare and deliver a formal presentation.
Students have an opportunity to take a certificate exam in English for Business from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) (extra charge of about 450 PLN). LCCI examinations are offered at two levels at the University in spring.
This program is a typical example of the so-called Content and Language Integrated Learning, which is a leading method of learning English for Specific Purposes at an advanced level in Europe and around the world .

Our language teachers were highly evaluated by a group of professors, experts from the Language Division of the European Council, who, after their visit at the University, wrote that the level of teaching and the program itself can be a model for other universities (”Poland: Experts’ Report”).
Using content and language integrated learning (CLIL) our lecturers emphasize both business content and specific business terminology and phraseology .
The program lasts for two semesters.
