Prof. Dorota Dobija, Head of the Accounting Department of KU, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the European Academy of Management (EURAM) for another term. This time she will serve as Vice-President Responsible for Governance and Finances.
We are glad to announce the newest publication coming from KU experts: Prof. Andrzej Kozminski, Prof. Adam Noga, Prof. Krzysztof Zagórski, and Katarzyna Piotrowska, Ph.D. titled "The Balanced Developmend Index for Europe's OECD Countries, 1999-2017".
The goal of the course is to help students develop the skill(s) needed to plan a speech in public, and take advantage of such skill(s) to deliver convincing speeches that touch on a number of issues concerning private and professional life. Throughout the course, we will briefly look at the major techniques and/or tricks that make a speech (and a speaker) riveting to their audience, by watching and discussing a couple of historic speeches that have exerted a substantial impact globally.
Thanks to a cosy atmosphere, the students will be encouraged to overcome one of the major language barriers that users of a second language frequently have to struggle with – especially when they are required to speak in a foreign language in front of others. Emphasis will be placed on making sure that by the end of the course, students will have learned how to handle their public speaking nerves; received a full day of classical voice coaching which will emphasise the importance of language, tone, style and body language; given several shorter and longer speeches to their peers and participated in a debate to refine their skills; gained a better understanding of how to construct both a persuasive speech and an informative one; and, last but not least, learned how to think on their feet.
