The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA)
The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) was established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in October 2017 to support the internationalization of Polish science. NAWA works to stimulate international research and academic cooperation, promote Poland abroad, and strengthen scientific excellence.
The agency's goal is to increase the level of internationalization of Polish universities and research institutions while promoting the Polish language, culture, and traditions. NAWA achieves these objectives through a wide range of programs designed for students, doctoral candidates, academic teachers, and researchers.
Programs for Students
NAWA supports academic mobility through exchange programs, scholarships, and initiatives that enable students, doctoral candidates, and researchers to establish international cooperation. The aim of these programs is to increase the internationalization of Polish universities, provide students with international experience, and support academic mobility.
NAWA-funded programs offer scholarships for international students studying in Poland as well as for Polish students going abroad. The amount of the scholarship depends on the program and level of study. The agency evaluates applications based on formal and substantive criteria, with each program having its own detailed regulations.
