Department of Economic Psychology

Prof. Tadeusz Tyszka, the pioneer of economic psychology in Poland, was the founding father of the Department of Economic Psychology at KU. Our research investigates the cognitive processes underlying economic behaviors (buying, saving, investing, choosing an employer, etc.). We seek to identify the people and situations associated with specific behaviors (e.g., are entrepreneurs more willing to take risks? in which situations are people more likely to take risks?). Our research has resulted in numerous publications in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences, and we have obtained many external grant awards.

We disseminate our passions in our "Psychology in management" courses, which prepare students for careers in marketing, sales, research, and personnel management. An important feature of our courses is that our graduates acquire practical experience of using their psychological knowledge via a large number of workshops with established business professionals.
