Prof. Dominika Latusek-Jurczak from the Department of Management at Kozminski University, Director of the Center for Trust Studies and Head of the Department of Management, has received funding from the Horizon Europe program to conduct the TRUREGEN project, aimed at analyzing the mutual influence of trust levels and regulation in the European Union over time.

The TRUREGEN project, carried out under the Horizon Europe program, focuses on examining the bidirectional relationship between trust levels and the nature of regulation in the EU. The research will focus on EU energy regulations from 2008 to 2022, analyzing how the specificity and stability of these regulations have influenced the trust of key stakeholders, such as policymakers, regulatory bodies, consumers, and citizens.

The project aims to map the characteristics of EU energy regulations across two key dimensions: from specificity to breadth, and from stability to verifiability. It will then statistically assess the significant relationships between these regulatory characteristics and the levels of trust and mistrust among key stakeholders, such as policymakers, regulators, consumers, and citizens. Additionally, TRUREGEN will focus on uncovering the causal mechanisms underlying these relationships, which will provide a deeper understanding of the mutual influence of trust and regulation in the EU's energy context.

Horizon Europe, under which the funding was granted, is the largest research and innovation program in the history of the European Union. Over the 2021-2027 period, more than 93 billion euros will be allocated to groundbreaking research and innovative solutions. The program supports key EU policies, such as the European Green Deal and a Europe fit for the digital age. Through the TRUREGEN project, a better understanding of how regulations impact trust among various actors in the European Union will be achieved, which in turn can help create more effective and transparent regulatory frameworks in the future.
