The latest issue of the esteemed journal Tamara: Journal for Critical Organization Inquiry (Volume 20, Issue 1, 2023) is a significant milestone for both the Polish and international academic communities in the field of social sciences. This edition attracts the attention of both academic authors and readers by offering unique analyses, critical reflections, and thought-provoking scientific debates.

Tamara is an international journal with a rich history, maintaining its creative and critical character since its establishment in 2001 while achieving maturity and stability. It serves as a unique space for rethinking organizations and management, where research is intertwined with philosophy, theory, and an interdisciplinary approach. The editorial team strives to ensure that published works go beyond mere academic exercises, offering a genuine platform for discussion and the exploration of new perspectives.

One of Tamara’s distinctive strengths, setting it apart from other Polish and international journals, is its exceptional team of scholars dedicated to its development. The Senior Editorial Board consists of world-class experts from the USA, France, the UK, Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands, including Professor Andrzej K. Koźmiński. This international perspective and the highest scholarly standards make the journal one of the most significant Polish publications in the global academic landscape.

Inside the latest issue The recently published issue opens with an editorial article, Something Old, Something New…, by Professor Monika Kostera and Dr. Anna M. Górska, marking a new chapter for the journal. The authors emphasize that Tamara has always been a space for experimentation, critical thinking, and reflection, all while maintaining the highest academic standards. This issue features contributions from renowned experts in organization and management studies.

Barbara Czarniawska, in her article The Law of Jante in a Local Translation, explores Scandinavian organizational culture, analyzing how literature and popular culture shape norms and values within organizations. She examines the ways in which the concept of the "Law of Jante" is interpreted in different contexts and how it influences social and professional relationships.

Professor Andrzej K. Koźmiński, in Knowledge Gap in Management Studies, addresses a fundamental knowledge gap in management sciences. He questions why, despite access to vast knowledge resources, managers continue to make avoidable mistakes. The author argues that many assumptions in contemporary management theory fail to keep pace with the realities of the business world, leading to unexpected crises.

Hugo Letiche brings a philosophical perspective on the ethics of organizational research. His article, grounded in theories of hospitality and the presence of the Other, challenges traditional academic research approaches. Letiche argues that researchers should not be passive observers but rather engage in a dynamic dialogue with their subject matter.

A preview of the next issue – A tribute to Great Thinkers This issue also previews the upcoming special edition, On the Shoulders of Giants, edited by Dr. Anna M. Górska, Professor Monika Kostera, and Professor Paweł Krzyworzeka. This edition will pay tribute to great minds in academia—researchers, philosophers, and artists who have inspired generations of scholars. A special focus will be given to Professor Zofia Sokolewicz, a distinguished researcher whose work has significantly shaped the development of social sciences.

Tamara – A Journal with a unique mission Tamara: Journal for Critical Organization Inquiry is more than just an academic journal – It is a platform for interdisciplinary reflection on organizations, management, and society. Since its inception, Tamara has explored organizational narratives and management practices, drawing inspiration from critical management studies, interpretive theory, and feminist, humanistic, ecological, and postcolonial approaches.

One of the journal’s key missions is to challenge the status quo and critically analyze power structures and hegemonic mechanisms that dominate modern organizations. Tamara provides a space for scholars, practitioners, and independent thinkers committed to studying, understanding, and transforming the contemporary organizational world.

International recognition For years, Tamara has enjoyed a strong reputation both in Poland and internationally. Its high academic standards are confirmed by its inclusion in the British Academic Journal List (AJG, ABS), making it one of the very few Polish journals in this prestigious index. Besides Tamara, only two other Polish journals—published by Jagiellonian University and the Polish Academy of Sciences – are included in this list.

This recognition highlights the journal’s international significance and its impact on the development of organizational research and social sciences. The editorial team continues to expand its global reach, solidifying Tamara's position as one of the most important Polish academic journals in management and organization studies.
