About the project:
The SONNET project aims to develop an inter- and transdisciplinary model for understanding the diversity and processes of social innovation in the energy sector (SIE). The project will critically evaluate the success, contribution, and future potential of social innovation in the energy sector toward a sustainable energy transition in Europe. SONNET investigates how, under what conditions, and to what extent enabling different types of SIE can lead to new breakthrough applications or effectively help overcome barriers to transition; such as limited citizen engagement or slow adoption of new technologies.
The results:
The results of the SONNET project research work will be presented in an integrated way and will serve to better understand the socio-economic, socio-cultural (including gender), and socio-political conditions that foster and hinder the contribution of social energy innovation to the transformation of sustainable energy in Europe.
The innovative strategy for co-creation, dissemination, and exploitation of the project results, as well as the practical recommendations, tools, and capacity-building activities developed in the project will have an impact on key stakeholders such as citizens, SIE actors, policymakers, and businesses.
