During the 8th Praga Educational Awards “Ad Rem” Gala, held on 16 October at the Centrum Kreatywności Targowa, Professor Grzegorz Mazurek, Rector of Kozminski University, was honoured with the Award of the Praga-Północ District Council for “outstanding activity and commitment to the development of education in Praga.”

The awards recognise teachers, principals, students, and social partners for their exceptional contributions that go beyond everyday duties – for their passion, initiative, and dedication to creating better education.

The award has both a personal and symbolic dimension. As the Rector emphasised, his Warsaw story began precisely in Praga-Północ, where he spent his first decade in the city, raising his two sons.

“This distinction has a special meaning for me as it returns to a place with which I am deeply connected. Praga-Północ is not just the address of our university but, above all, a community – people we work with, support, and from whom we constantly learn,” said Professor Grzegorz Mazurek upon receiving the award. He also noted that the award is individual in name only. “It is an award for the entire Kozminski University community. Our university exists not for itself, but for society.”

Kozminski University and Praga-Północ are connected not only by location but also by long-term cooperation and numerous social initiatives, such as the University of the Third Age, educational programmes for young people, and scholarship schemes created in partnership with business, which enable talented students – including those from Praga-Północ – to study at a world-class level regardless of their financial situation.

The award was presented by Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, Gabriela Szustek, Mayor of the Praga-Północ District, and Deputy Mayors Anna Tomaszewska and Sylwester Klimiuk.
