Prof. Stanisław Jędrzejewski, Professor of Social Sciences in the Department of Social Sciences at Kozminski University and Head of the Department of Communicational Radio Theory and Practice at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, was honored with the Scientific Award of the Polish Communication Association named after Walery Pisarek. The Professor received the distinction for the monograph “Public Media in the Post-Television Era” (Poltext Publishing House, 2024), which addresses the issue of the functioning of public media in the changing communication ecosystem.
Professor Stanisław Jędrzejewski has for many years combined academic activity with professional practice in the field of media and communication. In 1989–1990 he was Deputy Chairman of the Commission for the Reform of Polish Radio and Television. From 1990 to 1993 he served as Program Director of Polish Radio, and in 1994–1998 he was a Member of the Board of Polish Radio S.A. From 1995 to 2007 he was Vice-Chairman and Member of the Radio Committee of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva, as well as a Member of the Digital Strategic Group II of this organization. From 2003 to 2005 he headed Program I of Polish Radio, and in 2005 he was appointed as a Member of the National Broadcasting Council of Poland. In 2009–2011, after winning an international competition, he worked at the Communication and Society Research Centre at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal.
The Scientific Award of the Polish Communication Association named after Walery Pisarek is a distinction granted for the most outstanding academic achievements in the field of social communication and media. Its aim is to honor scholars whose works contribute significantly to the development of Polish and international reflection on the role of communication in the contemporary world. The Award bears the name of Professor Walery Pisarek – an eminent linguist and media scholar, co-founder of Polish communication studies, and author of fundamental works on media language.
The first edition of the Award was concluded during a ceremony in Katowice on 22 September 2025. This distinction constitutes important recognition both for the academic achievements of Professor Jędrzejewski and for the role he plays in shaping reflection on the media in Poland and Europe.
