Prof. Konrad Zacharzewski from Kozminski University has been appointed to the Scientific Council of the Financial Ombudsman for the 2026-2029 term. The Council serves as an advisory body on matters related to the protection of customers of financial market entities.
The Financial Ombudsman, Dr Michał Ziemiak, has appointed the new members of the Scientific Council of the Financial Ombudsman. Among the 27 experts representing various specialisations in law, economics, management and psychology is Prof. Konrad Zacharzewski, representing the Department of Civil Law at Kozminski University.
The Scientific Council is an advisory body supporting the Financial Ombudsman in matters related to the protection of financial market customers. Its tasks include diagnosing key problems in this area, analysing solutions adopted in Poland and abroad, identifying discrepancies in the interpretation of legal provisions concerning the protection of financial market customers, and supporting educational and informational projects carried out by the Financial Ombudsman.
Prof. Zacharzewski’s appointment to the Scientific Council confirms the importance of Kozminski University’s expert voice in the debate on the functioning of the financial market, customer protection, and the relationship between regulation, business practice and the security of market participants. Prof. Zacharzewski is Head of the Commercial Law and Capital Market Law Unit at Kozminski University and an attorney-at-law. He specialises, among other areas, in commercial law, capital market law and financial instruments. He is also a regular collaborator of financial institutions and specialised law firms.
The newly appointed Scientific Council is intended to strengthen cooperation between the academic community and the Office of the Financial Ombudsman. As the Financial Ombudsman emphasises, the Council’s interdisciplinary character is expected to enable a more comprehensive analysis of challenges related to the protection of financial market customers - not only from a legal perspective, but also from economic, managerial and social perspectives.
The appointment of a Kozminski University representative to the Scientific Council of the Financial Ombudsman is in line with the University’s commitment to combining academic knowledge with institutional and business practice.
