Our student, Piotr Zbroja, shares his experience from an international exchange to Portugal.

One of the most important aspect of Kozminski University is its internationalization. One of the best examples is the possibility for the students to go on an exchange semester/year to one of our +200 partner universities. We decided to check in with one of our students, Piotr Zbroja, and asked him for a small feedback.

You can read about his journey and experiences below:

Before leaving, I had doubts (as everyone else) if it was a good time to go abroad and experience the exchange during the pandemic. From the very first day I landed in Lisbon and met other roommates, I knew that this was what I was looking for and needed in this period of my life. Beautiful parks and gardens, small cafes with local delicacies and - finally - historic places and viewpoints where sunsets do not get boring - these are just a few of the attractions Lisbon has to offer. Erasmus organizations also deserve a praise for organising sightseeing and integration trips. You can sign up for a selected activity almost every day - from quizzes, through surfing lessons, to several-day trips to Porto or Algarve, where the views allow you to feel like in a movie. All these events have one thing in common: they connect with other students of different nationalities - people with similar expectations, which makes all these moments and trips even more memorable. Finally, the people and atmosphere of Portugal itself. The openness and kindness that you notice in the everyday activities and small gestures that I would probably never have experienced without going to Lisbon, ” describes Piotr.

We were also wondering how the classes looked lika at our partner university and his opinion on it.

The classes were conducted in a hybrid mode. Classes held at the university were also streamed on the internet platform. As for the subjects, I gained a lot of knowledge and skills from them, because, similarly to Kozminski University, most of them are conducted in the form of case studies, projects and presentations. Additionally, I appreciate the very efficient handling of academic matters with the International Relations Office. The employees are nice and willing to help in case of problematic issues”, said Piotr.

He also answered the question whether it is worth going for an exchange.

I came back from the trip richer with academic knowledge, contacts with fantastic people, new skills, interesting life insights and memories from trips that will stay with me for a long time. In short: It was the best time of my life! 😊 ".

Piotr Zbroja is currently a second year Master's student in the field of Management in Virtual Environment at our university, as well as a committed member of the KU Sports Association (AZS) tennis section. He has achieved two victories in the Team Academic European Championships (2015, 2020), as well as a triple success in the Team Academic Championships of Poland (2014, 2015, 2016).

If Piotr's statement inspired you and you would also like to take part in an international exchange, remember that the application process is in progress. Until February 28th you can submit an application via the MyKozminski application. For more information, please visit the Facebook profile: IRO Kozminski.
