The Kozminski University community officially inaugurated the 2025/2026 academic year. The ceremony, held on October 7th in the Leon Koźmiński Auditorium, gathered representatives of academia, public administration, business, alumni, students, and donors supporting the university’s development.
The official opening was made by the Rector of Kozminski University, Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, who emphasized the importance of connecting knowledge with wisdom and responsibility in his address: “A university is not only a place for collecting facts. Its role is to combine knowledge with wisdom – the ability to use it ethically and responsibly. As a university, we want to give you the strength to walk through life upright – in your work and in your everyday choices.”
The ceremony was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including representatives of public administration such as Krzysztof Wacławek, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland; Dr. Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, Minister of Health; Marcin Iskra, Director General of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Ireneusz Raś, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism; Mariusz Frankowski, Mazovian Voivode; and Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw. The event was also attended by representatives of partner universities, the diplomatic corps, and the academic and business communities.
During the ceremony, first-year students took their academic oath, officially joining the Kozminski community. The oath was received by the Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Education, Prof. Jolanta Tkaczyk, who welcomed them with the words: “From this moment, you are officially students of Kozminski University.”
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of prestigious scholarships funded by Koronea Family Office, Tubądzin Group, Panattoni, the Robert Dobrzycki Foundation, and Executive MBA alumni. This year, the company Dantex, represented by Piotr Wiślicki, also joined the group of the University’s supporting partners.
Traditionally, the Kozminski Lions Awards were presented to outstanding alumni who promote the University’s values: The Kozminski Lion in the Entrepreneur category was awarded to Piotr Arent, The Kozminski Lion in the Manager category went to Jagoda Iwańczuk and Aneta Kowalska, The Kozminski Lion in the Lawyer category was awarded to Dr. Joanna Prokurat, and the Lion of Philanthropy was presented to Joanna and Andrzej Wodzyński, owners of the Tubądzin Group, in recognition of their long-standing commitment to supporting young talents and the activities of the Kozminski University Development Foundation.
The inaugural lecture, titled “Talent Mobility 2.0: The Post-territorial University – Opportunity or Overload?”, was delivered by Prof. Izabela Grabowska, who explored the role of academic mobility and the ethical challenges facing contemporary universities: “Amid growing tensions between mobility and educational justice, the university becomes a place that must redefine its boundaries — not in a territorial, but in a social and ethical sense.”
The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the Donor Wall of the Kozminski University Development Foundation and the opening of the photo exhibition “Ring” by Krzysztof Gierałtowski.
