The Non-Obvious Rules of Business (Nieoczywiste reguły biznesu) – a new book by Professor Lechosław Garbarski

A new book by Prof. Lechosław Garbarski explores what really drives business success when uncertainty becomes the everyday reality. Based on conversations with over a hundred Polish entrepreneurs and executives, The Non-Obvious Rules of Business (Nieoczywiste reguły biznesu) offers a thoughtful map of “non-obvious rules” that matter in practice.

What truly determines whether a company succeeds when change is the norm and “proven” strategies become outdated before they even make it into a slide deck? This question is at the heart of The Non-Obvious Rules of Business (Nieoczywiste reguły biznesu) by Prof. Lechosław Garbarski of Kozminski University. Drawing on in-depth conversations with more than a hundred Polish entrepreneurs and executives, the book offers a rigorous, research-informed look at contemporary business—and a search for the rules of action that may seem surprising at first glance yet prove decisive in real life.

Rather than offering easy answers, this is a publication that avoids the path of simple formulas. Instead of textbook advice and universal slogans, readers receive a map of real dilemmas: decisions made under pressure, amid risk, uncertainty and competing interests. Professor Garbarski organises practitioners’ experiences into a set of “non-obvious rules” that encourage reflection and help explain how markets and organisations work—both for those taking their first steps in business and for experienced leaders. The result is a book that teaches not only what to do, but above all how to think about business responsibly and long-term.

The Non-Obvious Rules of Business (Nieoczywiste reguły biznesu) is published by Kozminski University.

The author, Prof. Lechosław Garbarski, is a professor at the Department of Marketing at Kozminski University. His teaching achievements and contribution to the development of marketing education were recognised with the Kotler Awards Poland in the category “Excellence in Teaching Marketing”—an award presented during the European Forum for New Ideas in Sopot, as part of the first Kotler Awards edition in Europe, jointly with the Polish Scientific Society of Marketing. This context matters for The Non-Obvious Rules of Business (Nieoczywiste reguły biznesu): the book combines the perspective of practitioners with academic discipline in thinking, showing how to draw lessons from concrete situations and build one’s own style of action in a world that rarely offers the comfort of straightforward answers.
