Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, the current Rector of Kozminski University, has been re-elected and will hold the position for the next four years. He was the only candidate in the election for the term beginning September 1, 2024. Prof. Mazurek will continue his mission to create Europe's best, highly internationalized business university and to implement pioneering projects in the Polish educational environment that change the face of science and education.
The election of the Rector of Kozminski University took place in accordance with the provisions of the University's Statute, granted by the founder. Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek met all the criteria specified for a candidate for Rector. The University Senate gave a positive opinion on his candidacy. Thus, on March 25, 2024, Prof. Mazurek, in a vote of the Board of Trustees of Kozminski University, was unanimously elected Rector of Kozminski University for the term 2024-2028.
During the Rector's first term, Kozminski University strengthened its position in the Financial Times rankings – including business schools, MBA programs, corporate development programs, and management studies, among others. The university has also joined the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) – a prestigious group of 32 top business schools in the world, under the auspices of the Yale School of Management. In the coming years, the Rector will continue the mission of creating the best business university in Europe and implementing innovative educational projects.
Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek is a graduate of the Poznan University of Economics. During his studies, he was awarded a scholarship that enabled him to travel for two years to the University of Tilburg, one of Europe's top business schools, where, among other things, he worked as a research assistant. After returning to Poland, he defended his dissertation and received his doctoral degree from the Warsaw School of Economics in 2005.
He has been affiliated with Kozminski University since September 2005 – first as a senior assistant in the Department of Marketing, then as an assistant professor, associate professor, and finally becoming a titular professor in May 2020. From 2012 to 2020, he served as Vice Rector for International Relations, responsible for the internationalization strategy, international accreditation, and marketing of the university. In 2017, he completed a development program at IESE Business School in Barcelona. In September 2020, he was elected as Rector of Kozminski University for the first four-year term.
Outside academia, Professor Mazurek holds a number of positions related to the development of global and national higher education. Among other things, he is a member of the EQUIS Board and EFMD Advisory Board for the Central and Eastern European region, a member of the Expert Group for Innovation within the European University Association, a member of the Committee on Innovation and Cooperation with the Economy of the CRASP, and a member of numerous university advisory boards around the world, including President of the International Advisory Board of the French business school ISC Paris.
In his research work (Hirsch index = 24), he specializes in the topics of digital transformation of organizations, e-commerce, and digital marketing. His research papers can be found in the European Management Journal, Management Decisions, Business Horizons, or Cambridge University Press and Emerald publications, among others. At Kozminski University, he coordinates a number of study programs related to digitization in its broadest sense. He teaches at all levels of education and is also the leader of the Opus grant.
Currently, as Rector-elect, Prof. Mazurek is formulating his pro-rector team, which, in accordance with procedure, he will present to the Senate and the Board of Trustees for opinion in June.
