By decision of 25 March 2026, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded Łukasz Kozłowski, PhD, the academic title of Professor in the field of social sciences, in the discipline of economics and finance.
Professor Łukasz Kozłowski is affiliated with Kozminski University, where he works in the Department of Banking, Insurance and Risk. He received his doctoral degree in 2009 and his postdoctoral degree – habilitation –in 2017. He is the author and co-author of numerous academic publications, including articles published in renowned international journals listed in the Journal Citation Reports.
Professor Kozłowski’s research interests focus on the functioning of banks and small and medium-sized enterprises in local markets. His work examines, among other areas, the relationship between banks’ business models and systemic risk, the economic consequences of relationships between enterprises and banks, SME financing, and the effects of foreign owners withdrawing from domestic banking markets.
Professor Kozłowski has served as principal investigator and main researcher in research projects funded by Poland’s National Science Centre. His research has addressed topics such as the impact of cultural factors and social trust on banks and lending activity, enterprise-bank relationships, depositor discipline, and the influence of local banking market structures on the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises.
His academic achievements combine scholarly research with practical experience in the financial sector. As an academic teacher, he conducts classes at all levels of study and is involved in the development of young researchers as a supervisor and auxiliary supervisor in doctoral proceedings. He has received Kozminski University Rector’s Awards for scientific publications, as well as the Best Article Award for a paper presented at the World Business, Finance and Management Conference in Auckland, New Zealand.
The conferral of the title of Professor is one of the most important distinctions in an academic career and a source of particular pride for the entire Kozminski University community.
