The Senate Hall was visited by all the current vice-rectors, deans and vice-deans, new vice-rectors starting their mission, and representatives of the administration. More than a hundred employees followed the event remotely using MS Teams application. The traditional academic setting of the ceremony was complemented by the obligation to comply with the sanitary rules - all the academics had to wear protective masks and gloves. The departing Rector thanked his colleagues, handed them letters and commemorative gifts, and then, according to the academic tradition, handed over the scepter and the rector's chain to the new Rector. Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, in a short speech, declared the continuation of the line of development of the university, which had been set out by his two predecessors. He referred to the Kozminski Decalogue, i.e. the set of principles established at the beginning of the university by its founder and first Rector, Professor Andrzej Koźmiński. He stressed the principle that the university is a common good of the entire community, i.e. not only the authorities, but also scientific, teaching, administrative staff and the students themselves. The former Rector, Prof. Witold Bielecki, received the nomination to the position of President of KU, which was previously held by Prof. Andrzej Koźmiński, while Prof. Koźmiński received the title of Honorary President of Kozminski University. Effective tomorrow, that is from September 1, 2020, Professor Grzegorz Mazurek is the Rector of Kozminski University.
