On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the inaugural stage of the Warsaw Gravel Series – a new gravel cycling series in Mazovia – took place in Franciszków, on the edge of Bolimów Landscape Park. Kozminski University was a partner of the event.
Participants competed on a scenic, 56-kilometre route leading through the gravel roads of the Bolimów Forest. The event attracted both experienced riders and those just beginning their adventure with gravel cycling. The organisers created an open format combining sporting competition with a welcoming atmosphere, smooth organisation and accessibility for different groups of participants.
Kozminski University actively joined the launch of the series by entering a team composed of students and postgraduate programme participants. The Kozminski University team – Matsvei Kukovich, Emilian Piaszczyński and Michał Prażmo – performed very well on the route and secured 2nd place in the team classification.
The University’s participation in the Warsaw Gravel Series reflects its commitment to supporting activity, integration, and community engagement beyond the academic environment. It is also another example of Kozminski University’s presence in initiatives that combine sport, cooperation, and responsible relationship-building with the wider community.
The team classification attracted significant interest during the event, with women’s, men’s and mixed teams taking part. Participants highlighted not only the sporting level of the race, but also its friendly atmosphere, efficient logistics, technical support, and recovery zone prepared for riders.
The Warsaw Gravel Series is designed as an open cycling series for both advanced riders and those taking their first steps in gravel cycling. The next edition will take place on 20 June in Celestynów.
