How to effectively identify and authenticate voters in e-voting? How to ensure that votes are secret and secure? What methods to use to make sure the results are verifiable? These are just some of the questions that will be answered by experts from around the world at the upcoming E-VOTE-ID conference. Prof. Dr. David Duenas-Cid of Kozminski University, one of the organisers, extends his special invitation to attend the event to all those wishing to exchange experiences and ideas about electronic voting. The event will include three days of intensive discussions and presentations.
The E-VOTE-ID conference will consist of several thematic tracks addressing different aspects of e-voting. The first track will focus on the technical aspects of security and will cover, among other things, the design and analysis of remote voting systems, new methods of voter identification and authentication, and how to ensure the secrecy of the vote and the verifiability of the process from start to finish. The second track will address governance in the context of legal, political and social aspects of e-voting implementation. Experts will discuss the impact of technology on democratic institutions, organisational culture and transparency and public trust. Data protection and cooperation between the public and private sectors will also be addressed. The third track is the practical experience of e-voting. Reports on system development and implementation will be presented, including reports on court proceedings, legislative decisions, public debates and election results. The fourth track is the poster sessions, where participants will be able to present new ideas and approaches and share experiences of e-voting systems in operation. The last part of the conference is a doctoral colloquium where young researchers will present their research and proposals.
E-voting is a topic that is gaining importance in a rapidly changing world. Technology is constantly evolving and, with it, society's expectations of transparency, security and accessibility of electoral processes are increasing, emphasises Prof. Dr. David Duenas-Cid. In this context, the E-VOTE-ID conference provides a unique opportunity to explore the latest developments, both on the technical and management side. It is a platform where experts from different fields - from systems engineering to law to social sciences - can exchange knowledge and experiences. I invite all those interested in the topic of e-voting to participate in the conference. I am convinced that together we can not only understand and solve the current challenges, but also set directions for the future development of this key democratic technology.
The event is organised by Leon Koźmiński Academy, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, University of Luxembourg and Universitat Rovira i Virgili. The conference is supported by sponsors who are helping to promote innovative solutions in e-voting - Kastel and Port Tarragona.
