Kozminski University becomes a signatory of the Plain Language Declaration

27.10.2025

Communicating clearly and effectively – this is the core idea behind the Plain Language Declaration, which Kozminski University joined this year. The document was signed during the Plain Language Forum, where partners pledged to promote friendly, understandable communication across public institutions and organizations.

Why plain language matters

The Plain Language Declaration responds to the challenges of modern communication, in which audiences face an overload of information every day. Its goal is clear: to ensure that messages – including those on complex, expert topics – are accessible, reliable, and linguistically correct. In practice, this means that every recipient, regardless of age, education level, or disability, can quickly understand the content of a document, decision, press release, or email.

Commitments of the signatories: standards, training, sensitivity

By signing the Declaration, institutions take on specific commitments. These include developing staff competencies in the principles of plain language in both speech and writing; creating and implementing language standards; raising teams’ awareness of diverse audience needs; and introducing solutions aligned with the plain-language approach. Signatories also declare that they will promote good practices and lead by example – so that simplifying communication becomes standard and measurably improves the quality of information services.

Kozminski University’s voice

“For us, it is essential to communicate complex, scholarly matters in a clear and understandable way. Education that matters begins with understanding,” emphasized Prof. Jolanta Tkaczyk, Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Education, when signing the Declaration on behalf of Kozminski University.

Among the new signatories are, among others, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy (Ministerstwo Rodziny, Pracy i Polityki Społecznej), the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (Urząd Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentów), and the Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute (Instytut Badań Edukacyjnych – Państwowy Instytut Badawczy). Kozminski University joins a community of institutions ready to take a bold step and consistently simplify communication – within the university and in relations with candidates, students, alumni, and partners.

By joining the Plain Language Declaration, Kozminski University strengthens a culture of communication rooted in respect, inclusivity, and effectiveness. More broadly, it is an element of the University’s social responsibility and a meaningful contribution to the quality of public communication. Clear language supports equal access to information and builds trust in educational institutions.
