16.01.2026

Kozminski University, as part of the international EUonAIR project, announces the Open Innovation Challenge 2025 – “Responsible AI in Practice.” The competition invites small, interdisciplinary teams to develop mini-projects or solution prototypes that apply artificial intelligence in a socially and ethically responsible way.

Open Innovation Challenge 2025 is addressed to teams of 2–5 members affiliated with institutions partnering in the EUonAIR consortium. Eligible participants include undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, recent graduates, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, academic staff, and practitioners. The organizers particularly encourage interdisciplinary teams combining technological, social, and business expertise.

The aim of the competition is to foster the development of AI solutions that can be applied in real-world contexts while addressing ethical, social, and environmental challenges associated with emerging technologies.

Four thematic areas

Submitted projects should fall within one of the following four thematic areas:

  • AI for healthier online discourse,
  • AI for crisis response and risk awareness,
  • AI for sustainable campuses and municipalities/cities,
  • “AI Auditor” for health applications.

The thematic scope reflects the key priorities of the EUonAIR project, focusing on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence in areas of significant social relevance.

Funding and mentoring support

Selected teams will receive micro-grants of up to EUR 1,500 (total amount to be distributed among the selected projects) as well as up to six months of substantive support. The program includes mentoring from EUonAIR experts, access to partners’ resources, and visibility within the international consortium.

According to the competition schedule, results will be announced and funding will start on 28 February 2026, followed by a mid-term presentation on 26 March 2026, and the final presentations and project closure on 26 July 2026.
