Kozminski University and the University of Gdansk have signed a cooperation agreement focused on scientific research in the field of quantum technology law. This is a strategic step towards the development of a new legal domain which – amid the accelerating technological revolution – will play a key role in shaping social and economic order.   The agreement covers a broad range of scientific and educational initiatives, including joint research projects, the preparation of academic publications, and the organization of conferences, seminars, and expert events. It also provides for the exchange of academic staff and doctoral students, the sharing of research resources, and the development of a collaborative network with national and international centers working on quantum technologies and their regulation.   At the heart of this collaboration is quantum technology law – a new interdisciplinary area that combines legal studies with computer science, physics, cybersecurity, and public policy. Both universities recognize the urgent need to establish modern legal frameworks that can adequately respond to the challenges of quantum technology commercialization, data protection, digital sovereignty, and the security of state and economic systems.   The partnership between Kozminski University and the University of Gdansk will enable the creation of a strong expert community, capable of formulating legislative recommendations, conducting strategic analyses, and developing educational programs for future specialists in advanced technology law.   “Quantum technologies are not the future – they are the present, unfolding faster than we can comprehend. We must jointly shape legal frameworks that not only keep up with technological development but also help shape it. Our partnership with the University of Gdansk exemplifies mature, content-driven collaboration that has the potential to influence the evolution of this emerging field,” emphasizes Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek, Rector of Kozminski University.   This collaboration is an important part of Kozminski University's strategic vision. As an internationally oriented institution, the university actively engages in digital transformation and focuses on creating innovative solutions to future challenges – both technological and societal.   “Our cooperation with Kozminski University enables us to combine the academic potential of both institutions and build a strong research center dedicated to the legal implications of quantum technology development. The Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdansk has long been advancing research on new technologies, and this initiative offers new opportunities to conduct projects with real regulatory significance,” says Dr. hab. Wojciech Zalewski, Prof. UG, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Administration at the University of Gdansk.   The joint efforts of Kozminski University and the University of Gdansk also align with broader European and global trends surrounding the regulation of emerging technologies. As more governments and institutions seek frameworks for the safe and ethical deployment of new technologies, quantum technology law is emerging as a key pillar in this debate. This initiative positions Poland to actively participate in the international dialogue and co-create legal standards for the coming decades.
