Prof. Marta Strumińska-Kutra from the Department of Social Sciences at Kozminski University has received funding from the Horizon Europe 2024 program to implement the GreenDEMO project, aimed at supporting the transformation towards more sustainable and democratic development. The project will explore the innovative roles of public administration in addressing social challenges, particularly in the context of supporting democratic processes of change. The initiative will focus on designing, prototyping, testing, and replicating organizational innovations in municipal administration, aimed at enabling and enhancing public administration's capacity to act towards climate neutrality and democratic stability.
Horizon Europe, under which the funding was granted, is the largest research and innovation program in the history of the European Union. Over the 2021-2027 period, more than 93 billion euros will be allocated to groundbreaking research and innovative solutions. The program supports key EU policies, such as the European Green Deal and a Europe fit for the digital age.
The GreenDEMO project aims not only to support ecological initiatives but also to strengthen democratic processes, which are crucial for lasting social transformation. Through this project, municipal administrations in Europe can become better equipped to effectively implement climate policies, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals at both local and international levels.
