Dr Miłosz Miszczyński of Kozminski University has been appointed as the head of the Polish team in the international research project LabourFlows: Infrastructures of Labour Flows Through Warehouses in Europe. The project is carried out in collaboration with research teams from Hasselt University (Belgium) and University of Graz (Austria) and represents an interdisciplinary initiative at the intersection of social sciences, labour studies, and infrastructural theory.

The core objective of the project is to develop an innovative infrastructural approach to understanding how contemporary labour models – particularly in the warehouse sector – re constructed, sustained, and reproduced under the conditions of global capitalism. The research team will focus on examining the socio-material infrastructures that facilitate the flow of labour, including technology, logistics systems, organizational relationships, geographic mobility, and institutional actors.

The project involves in-depth empirical fieldwork, and the development of a new research methodology aimed at revealing the dynamic and often hidden mechanisms that govern work and human mobility in complex infrastructural environments. A key goal of the project is to explore how these infrastructures can be challenged, reappropriated, or transformed to propose more equitable and sustainable futures of labour.

LabourFlows contributes to the growing field of research on infrastructures of work in the era of automation, migration, and global supply chains. The project strengthens Kozminski University’s role in shaping the European academic conversation on the future of labour and mobility.
