The General Council for Science and Higher Education is the principal representative body of the academic community in Poland. It issues opinions and provides advice on the state’s science and higher education policy and works with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to shape the system of higher education and research. Its members are drawn from a wide range of academic and research institutions, ensuring representativeness and a broad perspective.
Dr Górska’s appointment is particularly significant. Her expertise in diversity, gender equality, and governance in higher education brings to the Council a perspective that is crucial at a time when universities are addressing challenges related to inclusivity, ethics, and sustainable development. Her presence will help foreground the importance of equality policies and the creation of open, innovative academic environments.
Dr Górska is a member of the Polish Young Academy at PAS, a recipient of the Polish Minister of Science Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists, the NCN ETIUDA programme, and the Fulbright Junior Research Award. Her work has appeared in international journals including Gender, Work & Organization, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and Journal of Global Information Technology Management. She serves as a co-editor of Tamara: Journal for Critical Organization Inquiry.
She has gained experience at Columbia Business School and ESCP Business School, and as a participant and principal investigator on grants funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), the British Academy, EU funds, EEA/Norway Grants, and COST Actions. At Kozminski University, she actively collaborates with students – as an alumna and mentor of the TOP15 programme, supervisor of the Women in Organisations Student Research Group, and mentor at the Kozminski Business Hub. For years, she has also supported the university’s strategic development as a member of the Office for Impact, Accreditations, Rankings, and Strategy.
Dr Górska’s selection to the General Council is both a recognition of her achievements and an acknowledgement of Kozminski University’s contribution to the national debate on the future of Polish science and higher education. Thanks to her expertise in diversity and ethics in organizations, the Council’s work will more strongly reflect universities’ social responsibility and the need to build academic environments that foster innovation, openness, and equality.
