Kozminski University opens their Bloomberg Laboratory. Starting from October 2019, students and lecturers of the bachelor and master programs in Finance and Accounting will benefit from a financial laboratory based on Bloomberg’s technology. They will have access to the full service and additional educational functions of the largest news agencies in the world.
– Thanks to this solution, the learning process at our university will be based on real analyses, indicators and information from all financial markets in the world. The same Bloomberg service is received by the biggest banks, financial institutions, businesses and media. This will further strengthen our educational offer – says Błażej Podgórski, Ph.D., a lecturer of finance and supervisor of the KU Bloomberg Laboratory.
Already now, Kozminski's Finance and Accounting programs are among the best in the world. KU’s program has been ranked 17th in the world in the global Financial Times ranking, which examines the master programs and its graduates' careers. It also has a distinguishing mark of the Polish Accreditation Committee and is certified by international professional associations like: CIMA, ACCA, CFA Institute and is an academic partner of the organization associating alternative investment professionals CAIA and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), supported by companies like Accenture, BNP Paribas, Citi, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, S&P.
– We focus on modern and practical education of future financiers – says prof. Paweł Mielcarz, Head of the Department of Finance at KU. – About 950 of the best universities in the world use the Bloomberg service. Already in October, we are opening a financial laboratory based on Bloomberg’s technology, which will allow us to conduct classes with the use of real work tools in the financial sector and analyze the situation on the markets in real time. The world of finance does not function without quick access to specialist knowledge, news, quotation rates, so the ability to use Bloomberg's terminals is currently a skill expected by employers in this sector – adds prof. Mielcarz.
The Bloomberg terminal, thanks to its specialized software, allows to receive information from financial markets in real time and provides access to historical data. Journalists from agencies based in 120 countries provide the information and business analysis on which their investment strategies are based for companies and financial market institutions. The functions dedicated to universities also allows the use of educational and research tools.
Bloomberg is the world's largest news agency with a turnover of $10 billion a year, specializing in providing information about financial markets. The company headquarters is in New York City.
