What does the Kozminski Language Center do?
Kozminski Language Center runs:
- Foreign language classes for students of all fields of study, studying both full-time and part-time
- Preparation courses for certificate exams in language groups at full-time studies, run as part of the conducted language classes
- Lectures and discussion seminars in English on full and part-time studies of under and postgraduate studies
- Postgraduate programmes: BUSINESS STUDIES IN ENGLISH and WIRTSCHAFT AUF DEUTSCH
- Training for foreign language teachers
- "On demand" courses, so-called modules for KU students in general English and specialized English: business and legal, as well as other foreign languages.

What foreign languages can be studied at KU?
Kozminski University offers a variety of languages:
English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Polish as a foreign language.
Assess your language level according to the CEFR classification.
Full-time studies
*Does not apply to the Computer Science programme
Full-time students studying in Polish learn two languages:
- English – 180 hours, spread across the first four semesters of Bachelor's degree studies. At the end of the first, second, and third semesters, students receive a graded credit, while the fourth semester concludes with an exam: either a certificate exam or an internal exam.
- A second foreign language chosen by the applicant – 90 hours, spread across the first three semesters of Bachelor's degree studies. At the end of the first and second semesters, students receive a graded credit, while the third semester concludes with an exam.
Applicants may choose from the following languages: German, French, Spanish, Russian – as a continuation of prior learning; or German or Chinese – studied from scratch.
In the full-time studies in English, students learn two languages:
- Business English – for 120h, which are spread over the first two semesters of undergraduate studies. At the end of semester one, students receive a passing grade. However, the fourth semester ends with an exam: certificate or internal exam.
- a foreign language of the candidate's choice – for 180h, which are spread over the first three semesters of undergraduate studies. At the end of semesters one and two, students receive a passing grade. However, the third semester ends with an exam.
The candidates can choose from the following languages: German, French, Spanish, Russian or Chinese. Foreigners studying at KU in English have the possibility to learn Polish.
It is not possible to participate in the study of a language that is native, official or commonly spoken in the candidate's country of origin.
Part-time studies

As part of part-time studies, students learn one foreign language over 80 hours, spread across the first four semesters of Bachelor's degree studies. After the first, second, and third semesters, the course concludes with a credit, while the fourth semester ends with an exam.
Law students have English language instruction included in their programme. Students of all other part-time programmes may choose between English or German language classes (provided that a sufficient number of students enrol).
Who teaches foreign languages at KU?
Kozminski Language Centre is a team of high-class teachers and lecturers. Among them are authors of general and specialised language textbooks, e-learning courses for Business English, language learning and testing applications, articles, reviews and other publications.
Our teachers are experienced and dedicated. They apply effective teaching methods and use a variety of teaching materials such as, language textbooks, their own multimedia materials, and specialist authentic texts such as contracts, business and legal documents, case studies and articles. They implement the latest technologies for teaching and testing language skills. Our team of teachers regularly improve their methodological skills by leading and participating in language conferences, training and seminars. Additionally, they cooperate with international associations and organisations of English language teachers, e.g., IATEFL, EULETA, the British Council, Cambridge English Assessment, the Austrian Institute and Goethe Institut.
How Council of Europe experts evaluated the work of the Kozminski Language Center?
The language experts of Counsil of Europe, after visiting the university and reviewing the work of the Foreign Language Centre, wrote in their “EXPERT’S REPORT: POLAND” that our language programmes “can be regarded as an example of excellent practice” and “the requirements for students of all disciplines and the way they are enforced can be an example for other countries to follow”.
