The Language and Law Working Group (WG2) of COST Action “Language in the Human Machine Era”(LITHME) and The International and EU Law Department of  Kozminski University’s Law School invite you to a workshop on law, language, legal translation and new technologies.

The workshop will take place at Kozminski University in Warsaw on 11-12 September 2023.                                                                     Due to the limited number of onsite places available, registration is mandatory by August 30, 2023. Online participation is not available.    LITHME is a COST Action network which aims at facilitating longer term dialogue between linguists and technology developers. WG2 focuses on law and language, especially on conceptual congruence in MT translating international law; use of CAT for multilingual legislative drafting (e.g. EU); multilingual lawmaking and incentives to use MT; the prior rise of English as international legal language; creation and use of terminology; forensic analysis of language evidence; and AI-based ‘robot lawyers’ influencing legal interaction and meaning (cf. LITHME Memorandum of Understanding – Project description).
