We have the pleasure of inviting you to an inspiring discussion pannel between Prof. Charlie Beckett (London School of Economics and Political Science) and Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska (Kozminski University), moderated by Helena Chmielewska-Szlajfer, Ph.D. (Kozminski University).

The future of journalism lies in the industry’s adoption of artificial intelligence. AI offers increasingly powerful tools that make journalists’ work easier and more efficient. But with the growing power of AI data collection and analysis, is it becoming a competitor to journalists? How will AI transform news media in the near future? Dr Aleksandra Przegalińska-Skierkowska
Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska

Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska is a part of the MINDS (Management in Networked and Digital Societies) department at Kozminski University. She received a doctoral degree in the field of the philosophy of artificial intelligence at the University of Warsaw. She is a graduate of The New School for Social Research in New York, where she participated in research on identity in virtual reality, with special emphasis on Second Life. She received a scholarship from the Fulbright Foundation. She also worked during the Polish Presidency of the EU Council as chairwoman of the Audiovisual Working Party on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

In 2016, she has started a fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2021, she became a Research Fellow in the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), and since 2022 is a Senior Research Associate at Harvard University as part of the Harvard Labour and Worklife Program.

PhD Helena Chmielewska-Szlajfer

Helena Chmielewska-Szlajfer, Ph.D. defended her doctoral dissertation in sociology at The New School for Social Research (2014) in New York and received the Albert Salomon Memorial Award in Sociology. She was a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Visiting Scholar at New York University. She authored such publications Kazimierz Kelles-Krauz: Marksizm a socjologia (Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, 2014; English edition: Marxism and Sociology: A Selection of Writings by Kazimierz Kelles-Krauz, Brill, 2018, and Haymarket Press, 2019), Reshaping Poland’s Community after Communism: Ordinary Celebrations (Palgrave, 2019), or Online Tabloid Politics: Pudelek, Gawker and Mail Online (Brill, 2022). Helena Chmielewska-Szlajfer is also a scholarship holder of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Kościuszko Foundation Poland, and The New School for Social Research. She studies everyday citizen practices, information media, and politics online. Her scientific interests also include social change and everyday culture. In her scientific work, she specializes in qualitative methods such as content analysis, (n)etnography, interviews, and field studies. She has many years of experience in public speaking in Poland and abroad; due to her research focus, she is a regular commentator in Polish and international media
