The meeting will be conducted by
Head of the Department of Finance at Kozminski University, Academic Coordinator of the MBA programme for finance professionals and postgraduate programmes in finance. He previously served as Deputy Director of the College of Management and Finance, where he was responsible for the development of finance programmes taught in English.
As a consultant, he has participated in several hundred advisory and training projects in the field of corporate finance. He has also acted as a court expert, preparing expert opinions for court, prosecutorial and arbitration proceedings, as well as proceedings conducted by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. During his professional career, Professor Mielcarz has served on the supervisory boards of several companies.
He is the author or co-author of several dozen academic articles and two books. Professor Mielcarz has taught at several European business schools and maintains a long-standing cooperation with ESSCA School of Management. He has also completed executive education programmes at Harvard Business School, including the Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning and Case Study Workshop.
An economist based in New Delhi, Professor of Economics at Kozminski University and Lead Economist at the World Bank. In his work at the World Bank, he supports countries in improving their business environment, strengthening innovation, and promoting green development.
Previously, he served as Chief Economist and Managing Director at PKO Bank Polski, worked as an economist in the European Department of the International Monetary Fund and as an Advisor to the IMF’s Executive Director. He also advised Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate banking in Poland and the United States, including as Senior Manager at Citibank Poland.
Professor Piątkowski holds a Ph.D. and habilitation in Economics from Kozminski University and an M.A. in Finance and Banking summa cum laude from the Warsaw School of Economics. He has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University, the OECD Development Centre, and London Business School.
He is the author of Europe’s Growth Champion: Insights from the Economic Rise of Poland, published by Oxford University Press. The book, which examines Poland’s economic “Golden Age”, received the Polish Academy of Sciences award for the Best Book in Economics and the National Bank of Poland award for the Best Book in Economic Education. It was also reviewed by the Financial Times and translated into Polish and Chinese.
