The Department of Social Sciences at Kozminski University cordially invites you to a debate, dedicated to the reform of public media: Decent media - what does it mean?

The meeting will be held on 20.03.2024 from 10:00 - 18:30 in a hybrid form: stationary in room D218 at the university's headquarters and online on the Teams platform.

The idea of the debate Decent media - what does it mean?, taking into account public media reconstruction projects, is a multidimensional overview of the role of free, independent and decent media in a democratic society, their influence on public opinion and their evolution in the face of a changing technological, social and political landscape. The debate aims to: 1.To provide a space for an open discussion of the current challenges and future of free media in Poland, as well as an attempt to impart knowledge about the importance and complexity of the various problems of media operation. 2.To create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience related to free media by experts, media analysts and researchers, journalists, media managers. 3.To look at and reflect on how new technologies, social networks, algorithms, and artificial intelligence tools can affect media freedom and independence, how they are used by public media in particular, and how they can be used to promote quality independent journalism 4.Newly defining the role of public media in the context of their independence, funding and impact on pluralism and diversity of content. 5.Develop recommendations for policies and strategies that can support media freedom and development in the future.
