I shall present several cases from various eras showing the tested principles of the development of property, throughout history, that were frequently forsaken in the past century. Basing myself on those positive examples I shall show the relationship of property with city planning and the way of stimulating its development by delineating the borders of public space. The choice of examples ties economic, technical and cultural questions together.
