Olga Wanicka is a PhD student in sociology at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw. She holds a master's degree in criminology (University of Warsaw) and is the principal investigator in the project Poland's inclusion in the global labor brokerage network: the case of Filipino migrant workers (Overseas Filipino Workers) (2019/35/O/HS6/02329), funded by the National Science Centre. From 2018 to 2022, she worked at the La Strada Foundation Against Human Trafficking and Slavery. Her research focuses on Filipino migration networks in Poland, recruitment agencies and their role in the global labor intermediation network, as well as labor intermediation and its intersections with informality, migration, and crime. In addition, she studies the dynamics of online labor intermediation on social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
