International Schools

Other than a student exchange every student of Kozminski University can participate in international activities within the framework of partnerships with universities from around the world. We encourage KU students to take part in those events, as it is a great occasion to gain extra ECTS points, open yourself up to new experiences and meet new friends.

Below you can find updated information about short programs, courses and international schools organized by KU partners.

Winter School 2018 at Witten/Herdecke University

Dear Students,

From 2007 on, each year about 30 students from all over the world come together at the University of Witten / Herdecke to create a joint stimulus for more sustainable business. The equal consideration of social, ecological and economic sustainability is of particular importance here. For a week, theories, methods and case studies are analyzed in various formats, perspectives and ideas are exchanged and reflected.

The eleventh oikos Winter School is titled BOTTOMs UP - TOPs DOWN? Sustainable Development Cooperation and will focus on sustainability in the non-governmental sector of development cooperation.

Development Cooperation is a much discussed topic and the image of it being dysfunctional is widespread. The allegations are manifold:

Corrupt elites are enriched by the cash flows of development cooperation. Western concepts are naively exported without satisfying the needs of the local population. Projects often benefit the so-called donor countries most, and development cooperation reinforces existing dependencies. In short: "Development aid is often a blind flight," says American economist and development aid critic William Easterly, co-director of the Institute for Development Research at New York University. Is this applicable ? Which approaches of development cooperation are more successful than others? What are the different motivations behind cooperations, and how do they affect the implementation of the projects? Are there specific strategies that can be chosen to make development cooperation more efficient and sustainable? We would like to discuss these issues at our conference.
