We strive to develop interdisciplinary programs in law and business.

Extracurricular Activities

The Kozminski Law School hosts many national and international conferences with renowned guests representing the world of legal science, business, politics, and diplomacy. For example, in 2007, the Kozminski Law School hosted the following:
  • V International Conference on Supporting UN Peace Mission Veterans
  • ”Debate on the UE Reform on the Day Before German Presidency. Political & Legal Aspects”
  • ”Prosecution & Justice Administration Institutions and the Protection of Financial Interests of the European Communities” organized by the Kozminski University in cooperation with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)
  • ”Personal Data Protection – Protection or a Threat?” occasioned by the Personal Data Protection Day designated by the Council of Europe
  • ”The Convention of Prüm – the EU Legal Experiment”
  • ”Jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice under the Prejudicial Procedure in the Third Pillar of the European Union. Implications for Poland”
  • ”National Minorities Protection in European Union”
  • ”Treaty of Lisbon – Legal & Political Aspects. Challenges for Poland”
  • ”European Civil Code – Vision or Utopia” organized as an annual conference series entitled “Law and Economy”

“Intellectual Breakfasts” are a highlight of our academic lives. These elegant meetings provide a platform for a free discourse and exchange of opinions on the critical developments in law without the regimen typical of a conference. Discussions revolve around the issues formulated by the guest of honor. Professors and students express their views on an equal footing.

Extracurricular activities include public lectures and seminars that cover a wide range of issues, such as economic aspects of crime, constitutional systems of European countries, principles of international relations, the current state of the legal profession and the possibility of its reform. Particularly noteworthy among those activities is the ”Program of Precedent Cases” organized by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.

A series of interdisciplinary seminars constitutes a forum for achieving cooperation between the economic and legal sciences. To enhance mutual understanding, once a month a guest speaker lectures on a subject of interdisciplinary interest followed by a speaker representing a different academic discipline. These meetings, which are open to the public, evolve into a think-tank that navigates the scholars toward a multi-dimensional model of research.

The Museum of Judicature stands out as a unique and experimental initiative. It doubles as a laboratory for students and an archive of court memorabilia, such as court documents, seals, photographs, uniforms, furniture and other court-related artifacts from the past. When acting out their roles in a moot court or studying the history of law, the students experience the feel of legal professions in their real-life dimension. The Kozminski Law School has also assumed the role of a custodian of professorial collections of books. Its Professorial Library contains legal classics that once belong to distinguished law professors. Thus, the sense of continuity, a necessary ingredient of professional pride, is instilled in the young generations.
