Summer Program 2018 - "Liberal Order in Crisis", European University Viadrina

Dear Students,

We would like to remind you that the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany is going to host its well-known summer program again in 2018.

After recent elections and political developments in Europe, the US and South America we decided this year to host a program regarding

The Liberal Order in Crisis: Authoritarian, Radical, and Populist Challenges to Democracy in Europe,

Because the current European order seems to be under siege. Its historically established normative foundations are challenged by various radical parties and movements. Some even fear that the historical lesson-learned that peace in Europe and beyond presupposes deep political and legal integration among the EU’s member states is giving way to the lure of nationalism and parochialism. How significant are these processes in Europe of today? Are we observing processes that are similar in kind to populist authoritarianism in the US, Russia and Turkey?

Courses offered:

  • Comparative Analysis of Recent Challenges in Europe
  • The Radical Right in Europe: A New Wave of Regime Change?
  • The Fall of European Orders from the Roman Empire Until Today
  • Comparative Constitutional Populism
  • Concepts of Populism and Radicalism

Due to the very positive feedback from previous participants coming from Finland, Singapore, the US and South America we are glad to announce an additional program with a number of business courses.

  • European Economics
  • Corporate Finance
  • Intercultural Management Training
  • Latin-American Case Studies
  • International Marketing

Quick facts:

Where?    European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder, Germany)

When?      May 30  - July 13, 2018 (6 weeks)

Deadline for the online application at the Viadrina: March 13, 2018

The participation fee of 1970,00€ includes accommodation in single self-study bedrooms, 2 courses, lunch on weekdays, cultural visits, social events, access to university facilities (library, computer and study rooms), public transportation within Frankfurt (Oder), official certificate & transcript of records, transactions costs and taxes.

5 Weeks Summer Study in Hong Kong - HKBU Summer Programme 2018

Dear Students,

Greetings from Hong Kong Baptist University!

Following previous years’ success, we are going to organize our English-taught, credit-bearing HKBU Summer Programme 2018.  The programme will run for a five-week period from 3 July to 3 August.

Altogether, more than 30 courses will be offered in the areas of Business, Communication, Economics, English, Film, Finance, History, Journalism, Marketing, Religion, Science and Sociology.  Prospective summer exchange students can enjoy a wide selection of courses offered and should have an easy time finding courses that they would like to study.

Since this is a summer exchange programme, we will be interested in having students enrolled as exchange students.  That means we will waive the tuition charges for the enrolled students, but will use the exchange numbers to offset the number of students that we will send out from HKBU as exchange students during the regular semester of studies.  The formula we will use is that if two students that you will send in the summer to study on our campus for two courses for a total of six credit hours each, that will be counted as equivalent to providing space for an HKBU student to be sent back for a whole semester of study at your institution later.  This summer exchange programme model will be a relatively low-cost alternative for students who are otherwise not available to join the regular exchange programme for various reasons.

Another nice feature about this programme is that we will have business visits and cultural activities built into the programme.  Not only will students take regular credit-bearing courses on our campus, they can learn about the culture and business aspects of what Hong Kong can offer.  And, the highlight of these activities is the chance to visit Macao scheduled midway through the one-month long programme.

An integrated classroom will maximize the opportunities for students to learn cross-culturally.  Local students, Mainland students and international students will enroll and be integrated in these summer classrooms.  Students in the programme will have the opportunity to learn different perspectives on the subject matter from one another inside these classrooms.  Mixed groups of students will also be staying in on-campus residence halls to facilitate more interaction.

I invite you to check out this summer exchange programme.  Application is due on 9 April 2018 (Monday).  As this will be part of our exchange programme arrangement, no tuition fees will be charged and so the costs for students to join this programme are substantially reduced.  Since the numbers will be charged towards the exchange balance, we will only accept interested students’ applications through your office with proper endorsement on their applications from your office.

This URL also provides all the details online  Meanwhile, if I can help answer any questions that you may have regarding this programme, please do not hesitate to contact us at

Applications open for NTU Global Summer School 2018 9 July – 3 August

Dear Students,

Thank you for your interest in our Global Summer School (GSS). We hope you found the information we sent last year useful. Here we have provided some more detailed information for you to share with your students.

What is in it for your students?

Our third annual Global Summer School is looking to be the biggest yet, with more courses and a more exciting social programme in place.

The two to four week credit bearing courses include creative art, design, and architecture courses, practical social sciences and journalism courses, and courses concentrating on business and law. After the programme your students will receive a transcript and a certificate of participation.

Students are encouraged to combine two two-week courses so they can make the most of their programme and stay with us for four weeks, enabling them to experience the best of NTU, Nottingham and the UK.

We're appointing our own Student Buddies, who will be in touch with your students even before they arrive. They will offer friendship and support throughout the programme and some of them will even study on the same courses. The Buddies are invaluable in making sure the summer school students settle in and get to know the University and the city.

We've built in social activities and a trip to at least one other UK city, so students have plenty of opportunities to meet other students from around the world, explore the surroundings and make the most of their time with us.

Prices start from £975 for a two-week course tuition and the deadline to apply is now on 18 June 2018 to allow students more time to decide. We also offer 10% tuition fee discount to your students until the application deadline.

Additional discounts and package deals are available for groups of 6 or more students.

Please share this information with the students who may be interested and feel free to visit our website or email any time for more information about the programme and packages.
